Purpose:

The Purchasing Manager is responsible for the overall Purchasing operations including but not limited to sourcing & negotiating purchase of goods & services/shipping/receiving and warehousing functions. Performs strategic sourcing for Food and Beverage, Housekeeping, Engineering and other departments as needed. Oversee all shipping & receiving operations to include guest and convention shipments, loading dock & warehouse, storeroom maintenance, cleaning & upkeep. Establish contracts and third-party agreements to meet the overall objectives of the company.

Essential Functions:

* Function as the primary strategic leader of the hotel with responsibility for all aspects of the operation, including guest and associate satisfaction, human resources, financial performance and sales and revenue management.

* Supervise and manage day-to-day operations for the Purchasing Department including purchasing, shipping and receiving.

* Responsible for handling and overseeing the procurement of goods and services through appropriate bidding processes to achieve optimum price value while maintaining superior quality consistent with established policies and procedures.

* Research and/or facilitate research on product lines; provide department heads with recommendations and guidance regarding new ideas and new products that will achieve better cost control. Manage checkbook. Maintain purchasing databases, develop programs to increase savings and quality.

* Manage purchasing computer system to ensure maximum utilization and functionality, maintaining monthly forecast/checkbook figures. Assist in menu/product sourcing and selection costing process to maintain profitability levels within budgeted targets.

* Negotiate vendor relationships and set up new accounts. Confirm delivery of orders and packages with accounting and operational team.

* Ensure that processes are in place for inspecting and verifying quality and condition of ordered items. Lead communication with hotel operational team in terms of purchasing and receiving schedule and systems. Responsible for maintaining hotel inventory records. Utilize hotel purchasing programs (such as Avendra) and facilitate inclusion of items, always looking to minimize costs.

* Responsible for overall condition and maintenance of loading dock and storage areas. Perform Receiving and Storeroom duties in the absence of the Receiving/Storeroom agent. Perform other purchasing tasks and projects as required by management.

Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent. College degree in related field is preferred. Must have a minimum of two (2) years of purchasing experience. Supervisory experience is required.
