POSITION SUMMARY:The purchasing manager is responsible for the efficient receipt, storage and dispatch of a wide range of goods including, but not limited to packaging materials, tools, machinery, MHE, PPE and clothing, while implementing measures to increase the company's effectiveness and efficiency.The purchase manager will be responsible for developing supply agreements for inventory and non-inventory materials and supplies. Responsible for ensuring the continuous supply and timely procurement of packaging, ingredients, MRO, and other materials. Manages current suppliers and maintains close contact by correspondence and telephone to keep abreast of market and procurement conditions, new technology, and makes recommendations to ensure an uninterrupted flow of materials to the production facility. Takes an active role in Bill of Materials reviews, the inventory cycle counting program, inventory rationalization, and warehouse management.Essential Functions of the job include:
- Plan material requirements, generate purchase orders, follow up with vendors, evaluate prices, and maintain appropriate inventory levels and vendor records.
- Implement mathematical models and utilize ERP tools to establish stock replenishment points, improve customer order fill rates and minimize inventory carrying cost.
- Manager will be responsible for daily and weekly usage reporting.
- Effective working relationships with internal and external business partners.
- Plan, organize, and control warehouse operations, including people management of direct and indirect reports
- Fulfill objectives of the management team (control of material costs in particular)
- Establish and maintain agreed upon budgets.
- Plan out all warehouse resources and activities in relation to company objectives and set targets
- Implement cost reduction for warehouse transactions and activities
- Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
- Manages cost saving implementation.

Requirements:
- Basic computer skills including MS Office products
- Requirements: Bachelor's degree and/or 3-5 years equivalent experience.
- Food/Meat Industry Experience preferred.
