Job Description - Purchasing Manager SUMMARYThe Purchasing Manager is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies for specific commodities to optimize cost, quality, and supplier performance. This role involves supplier relationship management, contract negotiations, and driving procurement initiatives that align with organizational goals. The manager monitors market trends, ensures supply chain stability, and collaborates with cross-functional teams, including operations, finance, and engineering, to meet production and business requirements.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESGeneral Description
- Develop and implement commodity-specific procurement strategies.
- Identify, evaluate, and manage supplier relationships to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers while ensuring compliance with company policies.
- 90-95% stock availability maintained at strut plants and remote locations for purchased finished goods
- Coordinate with Master Planning to understand the demand and lead time requirements for remote locations
- Analyze market trends, risks, and opportunities related to assigned commodities.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand and fulfill material requirements.
- Monitor supplier performance through key performance indicators (KPIs) and address issues proactively.
- Drive cost-saving initiatives and continuous improvement projects.
- Ensure adherence to legal, ethical, and sustainability standards in procurement activities.

Qualifications and Experience
- A relevant business or engineering degree is preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain & Distribution or other relevant Procurement & Purchasing job functions
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing environment
- Understanding of ERP systems, including bill of materials, work order management, inventory control
- Strong computer skills
- Proven track record of improving overall efficiencies, reducing cost, and leading teams to effect positive change within the organization.
- Knowledge of lean techniques may be advantageous.
- Microsoft Office experience
