The Purchasing Manager will involve sourcing plant supplies, materials, equipment, and services, as well as managing vendors. You will be responsible for performing strategic procurement activities across various spend categories, aiming to find better deals and more profitable suppliers. Your expertise in supplier relationship management and negotiation skills will be crucial in ensuring cost-effective and high-quality procurement. By leveraging your knowledge of supply chain management and your ability to identify opportunities for improvement, you will contribute to the overall success of our organization's purchasing operations.
Responsibilities:
- Procure plant supplies, other direct materials, services, and equipment while employing the most effective cost control methods possible.
- Maintain accurate and complete records of all purchasing transactions in the plant
- Determine quantity and timing of deliveries; Expedite all open orders to ensure timely delivery of items
- Review and maintain inventory levels by reviewing usage of procured products to reduce stocked inventory levels
- Maintain insurance certificates and global contract information for plant review
- Develop, lead and execute purchasing strategies
- Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
- Craft negotiation strategies and close deals with optimal terms
- Partner with stakeholders to ensure clear requirements documentation
- Forecast price and market trends; Perform cost and scenario analysis, and benchmarking
- Seek and partner with reliable vendors and suppliers
- Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand
- Drive continuous improvement efforts by eliminating waste, reducing operational costs, and introducing more efficient production methods
- Responsible for maintaining process quality in accordance with Operations process and quality standards
- Lead safety, quality, and productivity programs, conducting regular workplace inspections and addressing non-compliance issues as necessary
- Perform project work and distribute necessary communication to support business objectives.
- Maintain an awareness and comply with hazardous waste management and other environmental management requirements; Communicate with EHS or Plant Manager regarding environmental management activities

Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years' proven experience in a purchasing production role, with a deep understanding of manufacturing processes, operations, and quality systems
- Previous experience developing and implementing purchasing strategies
- Strong leadership style with a demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, and develop team members; Ability to foster a cohesive team and maintain positive employee relations
- Previous experience with sourcing and vendor management
- Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, maintain quality, control costs, and meet deadlines
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to apply statistical techniques as necessary
- Knowledge of safety regulations and experience enforcing safety standards
Working Conditions:
This position is exposed to occupational hazards, including but not limited to, chemicals; high noise levels; physical obstacles; high, narrow and confined areas. Employees are required to wear PPE including but not limited to appropriate safety glasses, hearing protection, clothing, and footwear in appropriate areas and follow safety practices.
