At Battle Motors, we believe the most fulfilling place to work is where extraordinary people collaborate to solve difficult problems.This position reports to the Director of Purchasing and is located in New Philadelphia, Ohio.Job DescriptionAs a Purchasing Manager at Battle Motors, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient procurement of materials and services necessary for our truck production operations. You will be responsible for developing and implementing procurement strategies, managing teams, supplier relationships, and optimizing purchasing processes to support the company's growth and objectives.Principal AccountabilitiesStrategic Sourcing: Develop and execute sourcing strategies to identify, evaluate, and select suppliers that meet Battle Motors' quality, cost, and delivery requirements.Supplier Management: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiate contracts, and resolve any issues or disputes that may arise.Cost Optimization: Drive cost reduction initiatives through negotiations, supplier consolidation, and value engineering while ensuring product quality and performance standards are met.Procurement Process Improvement: Continuously assess and improve procurement processes and systems to streamline operations, enhance efficiency, and reduce lead times.Quality Assurance: Collaborate with quality assurance teams to ensure that suppliers adhere to AIAG requirements and Battle Motors' quality standards and specifications.Risk Management: Identify potential risks in the supply chain and develop mitigation strategies to minimize disruptions to production operations.Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, industry standards, and company policies in all procurement activities.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesDevelop, manage and support team of Buyers.Develop short-term and long-term category specific strategies that align with Company goals for reducing costs and meeting financial expectations.Manage contracts, contract/pricing negotiations, delivery, and other commercial terms with suppliers to ensure company objectives are established.Communicate risks to key stakeholders and escalate to appropriate levels internally and externally to resolve any shortages/production risks.Manage the ongoing performance of suppliers, including establishing, implementing, and monitoring purchasing policies that best support KPI's.Effectively document, communicate, and gain buy-in for the strategies from executive leadership and the supply chain organization. Prepare Supplier recommendations for decision making.Actively seek ways to streamline business processes; research and provide information on industry category trends and best practices.Maintain excellent relationship management skills with the ability to recognize workload imbalances within the team as they occur, and drive prioritization/take necessary steps to resolve as required.Education, Experience and SkillsBachelor's degree required, preferably in Engineering, Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Management, Finance, or another related field.10+ years of experience in Purchasing, Sourcing specifically in direct material procurement, required.5+ years of experience in Automotive/Commercial Vehicle Industry.3+ years' experience in developing and leading teams.3+ years' experience developing & executing commodity strategies, and evidence of being able to effectively communicate those plans to all levels of the organization.Experience using an ERP for tasks related to purchasing required; experience with Epicor preferred.Effective communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills and ability to influence at all levels of management and suppliers, leaders across cultures.Must have strategic thinking, collaboration and change management capabilities, as well as a vision for developing and leading the transformation plan for Continuous Improvement.Promote ethical behavior by ensuring team understanding of ethical responsibilities and promoting Battle Motors policies.Operate with minimal business direction in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency.Ability to read engineering drawings and communicate specific requirements to Suppliers.Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage several different tasks/projects simultaneously.Team player with keen problem-solving skills.This position will adhere to the Battle Motors Environmental Health and Safety Program by following all safety rules, procedures, practices, training, and safe use of equipment; this includes use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
