You have the means and opportunity to reduce our costs by making cost-effective purchases and reviewing current purchasing practices and agreements. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in purchasing, planning, and negotiating purchasing contracts. They should be very detail oriented and have a background working in non-profit organizations. They will know how to evaluate market conditions and how to work with and create relationships with different suppliers. Strong communication skills will be required to help you negotiate effectively and maintain solid internal and external relationships. Responsibilities: ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Purchases goods and services according to the company's policies and procedures. Coordinates with managers to maintain adequate inventory levels. Evaluates vendors based on price, reliability, capability, and previous transaction history. Works with vendors to negotiate volume and cash transaction discounts, and other available discounts. Ensures that purchasing documents are complete and accurate and include appropriate and reasonable terms and conditions. Maintains pricing histories and other vendor records. Performs other related duties as assigned. Prepare and submit detailed reports (revenues, buying expenditures etc.) Self-starter interested in helping the organization be more successful through their own actions. Qualifications: EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field is preferred. Minimum of five years of experience with increasing responsibilities in a purchasing role. Demonstrable Windows operating system and MS Office expertise. Experience building out a purchasing system and role Experience working with diverse corporate functions and balancing purchasing and business requirements Experience in vendor selection processes, purchasing agreements negotiations, and managing scopes of purchases Experience in a non-profit healthcare setting is desirable, but not required. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Excellent verbal and written communication skills with proven negotiation skills. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Thorough understanding of purchasing procedures and policies. A strong analytical mindset Must be able to access all areas of the facility to determine purchasing needs. Strong project management skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Energetic, enthusiastic, mission driven Effective verbal and written communications skills. Self-motivation - ability to work with minimal supervision; independent, cooperative. Strong knowledge of Excel and using worksheets to track and manage purchases. In-depth knowledge of Windows desktop applications. Ability and willingness to incorporate Sound Thinking (Lean) processes into daily work. Ability to travel to various Sound site locations. Must pass criminal background checks. WA state driver's license and insurable driving record, as well as reliable transportation, preferred. PHYSICAL DEMANDS To successfully perform the essential duties of this position, an individual must be able to sit at a desk for four or more hours a day, and use office equipment, including phones and computer keyboards, for four or more hours per day. Individuals must be able to engage clients over the phone and in-person by voice. Regular attendance is an essential function of the job.
