Job Type Full-timeDescriptionPurchasing Specialist - Manufacturing & Industrial AutomationAre you skilled in procurement and ready to make an impact in the world of manufacturing and industrial automation? CLX Engineering seeks a Purchasing Specialist with experience in sourcing components for machinery and equipment control, particularly electrical and electronic parts. In this vital role, you'll ensure the seamless acquisition of supplies, materials, and services essential for production, assembly, and operations involving industrial electrical motors and drives.The Purchasing Specialist reports directly to the Director of Project Management and operates as an exempt-level team member. While the position allows for flexibility in scheduling, it is on-site to facilitate close collaboration with engineers and hands-on familiarity with the parts and systems you'll work with. CLX does not offer sponsorship for work authorization visas and seeks a candidate with established foundational skills.Key Responsibilities
  • Process purchase orders and requisitions; participate in selecting parts aligned with project specifications.
  • Ensure all acquisitions meet quantity, quality, and timing standards.
  • Collaborate across departments to drive smooth operational workflows.
  • Negotiate vendor contracts to secure favorable pricing and terms, working closely with the CFO on account specifics.
  • Maintain meticulous purchasing records, lists, and forms.
  • Build and sustain strong vendor relationships to guarantee quality and value.
  • Research and identify reliable suppliers within budget constraints.
  • Manage consumables inventory and reorder as needed.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and emerging products to align with competitive pricing.
  • Support the Sales department with proposal preparation and provide documentation, including quotes and terms, as required.
  • Oversee tracking of packing list receipts for manufacturing and coordinate with Accounting.
  • Maintain and update the Master Parts List, ensuring accurate additions, deletions, and pricing.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to assess needs and maintain productive vendor relationships.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and timelines while meeting objectives.
  • Proficiency in negotiating vendor contracts and managing costs within budgets.
  • Critical thinking skills to address quality concerns and develop alternative solutions for procurement challenges.
  • Solid decision-making, time management, and organizational abilities.
  • Comfortable working in a traditional office setting, with extended periods at a computer, occasional overtime, and interaction with manufacturing shop personnel.
  • Associate's Degree or higher level of education strongly preferred, with 3+ years of experience in a similar role.
Ideal Candidates Will Have:
  • Familiarity with reading and interpreting electrical schematics.
  • Mechanical knowledge relevant to traditional automation systems.
