Position Title: PV Design Engineer

We're looking for a motivated and entrepreneurial Solar Project Development Engineer who can contribute to innovative projects while learning quickly in a dynamic environment.
About the Role: The Solar Project Development Engineer will play a crucial role in supporting the growth of our solar development portfolio. This position will focus on commercial and industrial (C&I) rooftop projects up to 1 MW, primarily in Columbus, OH. You'll leverage your experience with design review, code compliance, and electrical understanding to ensure high-quality project execution, contributing directly to impactful and sustainable energy projects.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct and review initial site design assessments using Helioscope software for accuracy and project optimization.
- Review and interpret electrical and structural drawings, ensuring alignment with relevant codes and standards.
- Collaborate with internal teams to review and enhance project designs, focusing on energy storage and microgrid integrations when applicable.
- Provide day-to-day support on design requirements, codes, and technical challenges, with a focus on efficiency and project accuracy.
- Engage in project development tasks that ensure all projects meet compliance and quality standards, fostering an environmental impact through sustainable project planning.
- Work closely with new hires (Project Managers and Coordinators) and support company growth by filling in where needed across the development team.
Required Skills:
- Helioscope Proficiency – Ability to conduct accurate assessments and initial site designs within Helioscope.
- Drawing Review Expertise – Strong understanding of and experience with drawing reviews to ensure all project aspects meet necessary codes.
- Electrical Knowledge – Ability to assess and review electrical components and integrations for rooftop solar projects to ensure compliance and safety.
Preferred Skills:
- Energy Storage & Microgrid Experience – Familiarity with energy storage systems, battery integration, and microgrid solutions.
- C&I Rooftop Solar Experience – Prior experience managing or developing rooftop solar projects for commercial or industrial clients.
- Soft Skills – Self-starter with a “go-getter” mentality, high collaborative spirit, and ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
