Kelly is hiring a QA Lab Technician for one of our food manufacturing clients in Jackson, WI
Salary:
The typical hiring range for this role is $25.00 per hour and is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications. This position may also be eligible for a shift differential and/or overtime.
What you'll do:
- Demonstrates a positive attitude and relates in a positive manner when interacting with all personnel.
- Understand and comply with all HACCP, Allergen, Environmental, regulatory and customer demands and requirements. Keep detailed and accurate quality records.
- Conduct employee training, education and development relating to quality.
- Evaluate products and disposition out-of-spec materials.
- Maintain lab employee schedule.
- Create and update product runsheets, lab procedures and programs.
- Order all laboratory equipment and supplies.
- Create daily report of quality issues and concerns and communicate them to management.
- Act as interface to research and development, contract plants and other manufacturing plants on quality testing and concerns. Evaluate testing methods to ensure accuracy.
- Manage laboratory equipment calibrations and standardizations.
- Oversee preshipment program to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Have a good understanding of the general purpose, philosophy and direction of the plant as a whole as it relates to employee policies and expectations, quality, customer satisfaction, GMP, sanitation, and production requirements. Maintain awareness of customer and regulatory demands and focus.
- Report food safety and quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.
- Act as back-up SQF Practitioner in Supervisor absence.
- Supervisor designee in Supervisor absence. QA Clerk designee in QA Clerk absence.
- Responsible to adhere to quality system requirements.
- Helps ensure production needs are met with regard to quality, GMP and safety.
- Keeps the immediate supervisor informed of relevant activities on shift and takes or recommends corrective action when required.
- Coach or direct other department personnel so that they have the required information to perform their jobs adequately.
- Works with the other Leads and Supervisors to ensure a smooth transition from shift to shift.
- May be responsible for reassigning labor based on production requirements, scheduling changes, vacations, etc.
- Responsible for making sure HACCP related policies are complete, including, but not limited to metal checks, screen checks, weight control, and packaging verification.
What you'll need:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Micro-Biology, Organic Chemistry and/or Food Science
- Knowledge and experience of GC/LC testing
- Knowledge and experience in a lab setting running chemistry tests
- Food industry experience is highly desirable
- Previous experience a plus.
- Strong attention to detail is required.
