Up to 53.37**CWI CERTIFIED PREFERRED**Primary FunctionThe Quality Control Tech A will be responsible for inspections and tests in support of the Project Quality Program. The work will include performing required inspections during the project, to assure that the quality of all work done by Manhattan Mechanical Services is in compliance with approved drawings, applicable codes and specifications as well as our QA/QC Manual. Duties will also include ongoing project documentation, research and communication. He/she will help identify any quality problems and participate in the resolution of such problems as well as provide assistance during any quality investigations. They promote Manhattan Mechanical Services in a positive manner, developing a partnering relationship with the client to reduce the client's costs, and improve safety and reliability.
WorkEnvironment:The normal work environment will be in an industrial facility where exposure to outdoor weather conditions is possible and where proper PPE is required for a variety of potential hazards.
Roles & Responsibilities:The roles and responsibilities of a QC Tech A may include but are not limited to the following items:
- Assisting management in development of plans to mitigate quality risk.
- Performing contract reviews to identify quality risks and makes recommendations.
- Implementing and maintaining corporate standards for an effective construction quality program.
- Monitors field work to ensure it is in compliance with Manhattan Mechanical Services Quality Assurance and Quality Control Manuals and the project's Quality Control Plan.
- Serving as resource for project personnel for quality knowledge.
- Assisting in the development of the project quality plan.
- Conducting project quality audits as required.
- Reviewing and participating in investigations to analyze root causes and develop recommendations for corrective actions to prevent reoccurrences.
- Performing inspections of incoming materials and equipment.
- Coordinating and communicate quality performance statistics.
- Performing and document inspections and tests of construction activities.
- Monitoring subcontractor inspection and test activities.
- Coordinating, administering welder qualification tests and document results.
- Maintains a daily log to permanently record all significant project facts, events, conditions, delays, visitors, owner representative contacts, commitments, agreements and approvals.
- Developing the abilities of subordinates through goal setting, training and counseling.
- Establishing and maintain communications to ensure accurate and timely flow of information.
- Participating in regular project reviews with project staff, senior management and the client.
- Consolidating and distributes quality reports.
- Provide guidance to management through interpretation of codes, industry standards, Client Specifications and Manhattan Mechanical Services quality policies.
- Promoting productive client relationships.
- Reviewing subcontract documents for quality requirements and provides input into subcontractor quality requirements.
- Work with Manhattan Mechanical Services electronic WPS database.
- Maintain, control and distribute required project quality control documentation.
- Ensuring weld rod control and material controls are in place on the project.
- Performing data entry into quality control program systems.
- Performing weld mapping and tracking.
- Inspect and document leak tests performed on equipment or piping.
- Oversee code repair work and assures compliance with ASME and Manhattan Mechanical Services requirements.
- Responsibility for stopping any work when quality is about to be, or is being compromised.
- Fully participate in health, safety, quality and environmental processes.
Qualification Guidelines:Experience:- Minimum of 5 years' experience in the Petrochemical Industry or related field.
- Should be a highly motivated individual willing to work in a fast paced environment.
- Strong knowledge in compliance of:
- Experience in building construction work packages from beginning to completion
- Strong ability to communicate processes to multiple levels of people involved in the project.
Skills:- Shall be a current CWI (certified welding inspector) or equivalent.
- Mechanical drawing (Reading P&IDs, Isometric, other engineered drawings)
- Assist in the qualification of weld procedures
- Communications (both written and verbal)
- All requirements of QC Tech B
- Manage multiple site needs
Education:- High school diploma or equivalent. (Compliance with Code required experience and education during certification process is acceptable)
- Must take the equivalent of three days continuing education annually.
- Must be willing to attend continued training applicable to job as deemed necessary by Manhattan Mechanical Services.
- Must have valid driver's license.
Physical:- Must be able to pass yearly physical, along with code required visual examinations.
- Must be physically able to inspect any area of work performed by Manhattan Mechanical Services (such as towers, heaters, high places etc.)
- Must comply with Manhattan Mechanical Services drug and alcohol policy.
- Must be clean shaven and able to work while wearing a respirator and other personal protective equipment, when required.
Safety/Environmental:- Must be able to pass applicable site-specific training. Knowledge of refinery and chemical plant hazards which may require special precautions and PPE, such as Sulfuric, H2S and HF.
- Must undertake the appropriate safety/environmental training commensurate with the position and location.
- CPR and 1st Aid trained, when required.
- Must be able to read and understand safety instructions, signs, labels and permits in English.
