Mercy Home for Children a nonprofit agency providing comprehensive care to the intellectual and developmentally disabled adult population, is recruiting for a Full-time Quality Assurance Registered Nurse Supervisor to work alongside the Director of Nursing to oversee 13 OPWDD Residential Programs in Queens, Brooklyn & Baldwin Long Island.Position Summary: Under the general direction of the Nursing Director, the QA Registered Nurse Supervisor is primarily responsible for the individuals' healthcare. To help individuals maintain and improve their health status by providing oversight to the LPN/RN nursing staff. To maintain adherence to medical protocols outlined by OPWDD regulations and Mercy Home Policy and Procedures. Represent the Agency by promoting and modeling the mission and core values of the Sisters of Mercy and Mercy Home. Essential Functions:
- Supervise the LPN/RNs to ensure all nursing services are adequately meet for the individuals with intellectual & developmental disabilities under Mercy Home's care.
- Provide staff training & development, as well as write & present performance evaluations to staff
- Provide oversight to ensure individuals' medication, including ordering medication, maintaining a supply of medication, notifying appropriate parties of any medication changes, and ensuring medication administration is accurately documented.
- Serve as the liaison with medical providers & ensure medical appointments are scheduled and attended by appropriate staff, as necessary. Ensure follow-up care as ordered by the Medical Director is carried out by the staff.
- Manage notifications to proper authorities detailing changes in an individual's medical condition.
- Provide oversight to ensure consumers' medical orders & protocols are implemented, monitored, and revised, as needed.
- Review appropriate documentation are handed in, e.g., weight, vital signs, results of a medical appointment.
- Ensure that regulatory compliance, agency policies, procedures, and standards regarding the individuals' health care are monitored by LPN/RN staff & others.
- Serve as the liaison with other care providers, including but not limited to the day habilitation program, medical care providers to maintain appropriate communication, and ensure consistency of medical services.
- Facilitate and actively participate in team meetings and staff meetings.
- Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary team contributing to the development of individual program plans.
- Monitor staff to ensure compliance with accepted infection control practices.
- As needed, assess the general health needs of the individuals & effectively communicate to the Primary Physician & residence with follow-up on all recommendations.
- Implement appropriate protective and preventative measures to maintain an environment of wellness.
- Write plan of Nursing services for individuals with medical conditions and periodically review and update such plans.
- Maintain and update health records as necessary and monitor immunization regimens.
- Inform the Director of Nursing immediately of any medical incidents, ER visits, or hospitalizations.
- Be available by phone for staff for on-call off hour emergencies & consultation when necessary.
- Determine and instruct when Call-ins occur for appropriate coverage.
- Maintain health and wellness while encouraging the independence of the individuals to the highest level of their ability

RequirementsOther Functions:
- Travel to various locations throughout the Agency as needed.
- Work with staff to administer IM injections as per MD orders.
- Ensure the individual's health and safety.
- Assist with other Mercy Home programs as required.
- All other duties as assigned.
Education:
Certification/ License:
- Current NYS RN license
- Valid and clean New York State Driver's License is required
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years work experience in an OPWDD certified setting preferred. Previous work experience in a hospital or med surg setting is required.
