2nd Shift (3p-11p, M-F) - Will Train 11a-7p, M-F
To ensure the efficient and accurate testing of mixed compounds based on specific analytical tests as defined by work instructions and as per customer expectations.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure product meets quality specifications, perform required tests per the quality procedures and customer specifications.
- Perform and record soap concentration tests as scheduled, notify Maintenance if adjustments are necessary.
- Visually check each batch, report inconsistencies, unusual conditions, or any process changes/problems to the Lab Supervisor.
- Place non-conforming material on hold; enter information into database, tag and quarantine the material.
- Perform calibration checks and adjustments on lab test instruments in accordance with calibration schedule.
- Perform preventative maintenance and cleaning of lab instruments, as required.
- Maintain a supply of spare and replacement parts.
- Fill in for absent lab technicians when requested or needed.
- Safety is a personal responsibility; verify that area and equipment are safe before proceeding with duties.
- Check all safety equipment; follow all facility safety rules and procedures; wear all personal protective equipment (PPE) required.
- Lock-out/Tag-out procedures must be adhered to when equipment is down for repair or cleaning.
- Ability to clean tools and maintain identified tool boards while keeping workstation and surrounding area clean and organized.
- Keep equipment in safe operating condition, report problems to Maintenance department.
- Participate in training of new Associates as directed by the Supervisor.
- Perform any other project/task as assigned by Management.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent is desired. Successful completion of Competency Assessment may be considered in lieu of education.
- Three (3) years of laboratory testing experience with testing equipment and testing methods or equivalent.
- Aptitude in chemistry with knowledge of quality procedures is preferred.
- Ability to perform basic math (i.e., addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
- Ability to read a tape measure.
- Good computer/systems skills - MS Office (Excel/Word/Outlook).
- Good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to read and comprehend written instructions.
- Ability to visually identify color differences and to check material for contaminants or inconsistencies.
- Good cooperation and collaboration skills.
- Good organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
- High degree of concentration with attention to detail, high energy and self-motivated.
- Ability to manage demands and deal with frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events through organization, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to coach and train Associates. [Must have a minimum one (1) year of experience as Lab Technician to train others.]
