Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours per week)Location: Lynchburg VA, 24501Position SummaryHorizon Behavioral Health participates in the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) Permanent Supportive Housing Program (PSH). The program provides housing support for individuals with serious mental illness who are homeless (as defined by DBHDS) -- individuals exiting a state psychiatric facility, individuals with serious mental illness released from jail/prison, and individuals who may be able to increase their independence by moving from an assisted living facility to permanent supportive housing. This position will directly supervise Housing Specialists, a Rental Assistance Manager, and a Case Manager.The Team Leader will provide program oversight for the Permanent Supportive Housing Program, compiling and reviewing monthly statistical information and completing required reporting. The Team Leader will review audits of electronic health records of individuals receiving services to ensure records are in compliance with pertinent regulations, and provide critical indicator and outcome data.Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in a Human Services field (Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or related field). Preferred: Master's degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or related health field.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of related clinical experience, and/or the equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. One year of supervisory experience preferred.

Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of the principles, procedures, techniques, trends, and literature related to mental health, developmental disabilities and substance abuse.
  • Knowledge of treatment modalities and intervention techniques, such as behavior management,independent living skills, training, supportive counseling, family education, crisis intervention, discharge planning and service coordination.
  • Knowledge of clinical supervision requirements and techniques.
  • Knowledge of psychiatric/medical medications/treatments.
  • Effectively manage supervisees' performance, communicate expectations and objectively rate performance of assigned supervisees.
  • Develop reports, create presentations and communicate findings to both internal and external audiences.
  • Communicate effectively to facilitate treatment and relay information to others as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Ability to participate in and successfully pass behavioral intervention training; includes both verbal de-escalation skills and physical skills techniques to be utilized with consumers as needed.
  • Ability to drive and possess a valid driver's license. May be called upon to travel to any Horizon worksite. Regular attendance at trainings and Horizon meetings may require travel to a variety of Horizon sites.
  • Ability to promote positive, collaborative, and professional working relations among coworkers and representatives in the community.
  • Ability to work in and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to respond effectively to changes in the work environment in a positive and professional manner.
  • Ability to identify and measure outcomes.
  • Willing and available to work modified schedules (weekends, holiday, etc.) as required.
