Our Client offers challenging careers and a comprehensive benefits program designed to keep employees and their families healthy and secure.POSITION PURPOSEThe role of the Quality Assurance Coordinator is to oversee and maintain the Quality Management System of Texas and ensure compliance with applicable standards, including but not limited to ISO 9001 and ASTM. This position will coordinate internal/external audits, Management Reviews, and develop/maintain quality-related policy/documentation as required. The Quality Assurance Coordinator will ensure that all processing cut-to-length products (and other products as required) are properly tested in the mechanical test lab and conform to the ordered customer requirements and/or applicable governing specifications in a safe, timely, and efficient manner.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSAs the Lead ISO 9001 Auditor, maintains quality manuals for Texas and monitors compliance with the ISO Standard.Manages activities required to obtain and maintain third-party quality certifications and/or customer qualifications for the plant (i.e., ISO 9001, ASTM, etc.).Reviews customer or supplier material claims with the Operations Manager, initiates corrective actions, and tracks and analyzes results.Manages the Corrective and Preventative Action Request (CPAR) program and facilitates the development of a corrective action response as required.Maintains quality statistical records and/or charts on facility performance, claims, etc.Oversees calibration of all measuring equipment used in production and the testing laboratory. Coordinates with third-party suppliers to complete any calibrations outside of our internal capabilities.Coordinates regular quality meetings, including periodic Quality Management review sessions required by ISO 9001.Serves as an internal auditor for Our Client and coordinates internal audits of the plant and key suppliers as required.Assists operations in determining product quality for material on hold off the production line.Assists sales and operations with product dispositioning and the release of material.Works directly with the Director of Technical Services on all items related to Quality Assurance.Ensures all products shipped meet customer requirements and/or governing specifications with respect to grade and provides accurate information to appropriate personnel on unreleased products.Ensures products are tested according to the priority established by operations/sales departments by daily confirming shipping orders and preparing the appropriate tests.Ensures specified procedures for the preparation of samples are used and performs calibration on a prescribed schedule.Ensures routine maintenance and general upkeep of the lab equipment and area are completed.Enters lab test results into a computer database to create certificates for products to be released and shipped.Identifies products on hold and resolves hold reasons. Maintains proper documentation and files as required.Reviews and makes recommendations to cross-apply products by retesting, reviewing customer specifications, and certifying the cross-applied product.Traces and expedites materials that require testing.Sets up and prepares samples per set standards and procedures using bandsaws, CNC milling equipment, and various other equipment.This position requires cross-training to learn all work assignments in the Testing Laboratory.Regular on-time attendance is required.QUALIFICATIONSCompetencies and ExperienceRequired:Understanding of ISO 9001 and ASTM standards.Ability to read, interpret, and generate quality procedures and documents.Three to five years of experience in a manufacturing environment.Strong computer skills and good working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook). Experience with other PC-based data acquisition tools is a plus.Ability to establish and prioritize required work assignments.Ability to work individually and in a team environment.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Preferred:Applied technology experience with cutting and milling equipment.Previous experience in the steel industry.Lead Auditor Training.EducationRequired:High School Diploma or GED.Preferred:Associate degree, bachelor's degree, or equivalent industrial experience.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES / DIRECT REPORTSThis position has no direct reports.WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe employee will frequently be required to:Sit, stand, walk, alternating up to 8 hours at a time.Use both hands for grasping, handling, gripping, and feeling textures and temperatures.Lift and/or move up to 10 lbs.The employee will occasionally be required to:Balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or climb.Bend, twist at waist level, and reach at and/or above shoulder level and below waist level.Push, pull, lift, and/or carry items weighing less than 50 pounds.The position requires the following vision and hearing capabilities:Vision at near, mid, and far range, peripheral vision, and depth perception.Talking and hearing in person, on a radio, and/or in group settings.The employee will be required to use the following machines or tools:Desktop computer.Hand tools.Floor-mounted jib crane.Propane or Electric Forklift.HAAS Machining Center.Electric Band Saws.Miscellaneous Testing Equipment.The employee will work in the following conditions:Around equipment in motion.Amid noise.While wearing personal protective/safety equipment to prevent injury from noise and environmental hazards.Around moving trucks and industrial mobile equipment.POSITION TYPE - WORK HOURS - TRAVEL REQUIREMENTSPosition is full-time, non-exempt. This is a 1st Shift position working (5) 8-hour shifts (7:30 am - 4:00 pm, Mon - Fri).
