ELG Utica Alloys is a business unit of the ELG Group. Here, mainly Titanium and Nickel-Cobalt base alloy scraps are professionally recycled - sorted, sized, cleaned, precisely analyzed, and certified according to the individual requirements of our customers. In parallel to the traditional trading, ELG Utica Alloys also offers its customers, mainly companies from the aerospace industry, logistics and processing services as part of a global or local closed loop program.

For our Herkimer, NY subsidiary ELG Utica Alloys Inc. we are looking for an experienced Quality Assurance Manager.

1.0 JOB DESCRIPTION

The Quality Assurance Manager will take responsibility for all aspects of day to day quality requirements to meet the expectations and requirements of our customers. The Quality Assurance Manager will drive the quality management system with focus on meeting safety and quality requirements as the first priority, then production requirements as the second priority.

2.0 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Implement the quality standards set by the company.
  • Responsible for the document management system. This will include writing and revising quality policies and procedures for the facility and tracking training to the new or revised procedures.
  • Requirement to oversee quality standards throughout the works and provide support to supervisors.
  • Determine and evaluate risks in the manufacturing process that will affect quality, safety or throughput. Perform Risk Analysis and implement procedures or other mitigations to decrease risk.
  • Track and approve process changes taking place within the facility. Determine if change will affect quality and/or impact fixed practice agreements.
  • Plan, Schedule and manage all relative internal audits, corrective actions and effectiveness reviews.
  • Coordinate and support on-site audits conducted by customers or certifying organizations. Evaluate any findings and work with appropriate departments to implement corrective actions.
  • Interface with customers when necessary. Oversee correction of customer complaints.
  • Perform or delegate purchase specification review
  • Identify and lead continuous improvement projects
  • Ensure quality procedures and customers standards are met.
  • Oversee the calibration schedules for all calibrated equipment. Schedule service when required.
  • Seek out opportunities to continue personal development through seminars, training opportunities, best practice sharing, sister company visits, etc.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required.
  • 3.0 COMPETENCIES

  • Bachelors Degree in science or engineering related field OR 5-7 years work experience in a quality role in a manufacturing environment
  • Managerial experience or proven leadership skills. Ability to work in a team or independently. Ability to lead and direct others work.

  • Knowledgeable of AS9100 or ISO 9001
  • Data based decision making skills

  • 4.0 SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

    This position has the following direct reports; QC Technician (1) and Laboratory Supervisor (7). The QAM is responsible for all employees of the quality and lab departments and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within.

    5.0 WORK ENVIRONMENT

    This job operates in an office within a manufacturing facility. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration as it is necessary to walk the shop floor.

  • 7.0 Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

    This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, during normal business hours. Hours of work may vary based on business needs.

    8.0 Travel

    Infrequent, however, employee may need to travel occasionally to visit customers, visit other ELG locations, etc.
