QUALITY ASSURANCE MANAGER

JOB PURPOSE:

Nikon Metrology is seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Manager to improve the organizations productivity, efficiency and profitability while also reducing waste.

LOCATIONS:

Onsite at NMI Manassas, VA facility

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

Quality Management System

  • Create & manage Quality Management System, which includes Quality policy, Quality Manual, Quality documents.
  • Observe and participate in the new product development process and ensure its compliance to the Quality manual.
  • Lead an activity of continuous improvement of the Quality Management system.
  • Product and Services Quality.
  • Work with Manufacturing Engineering and Product Quality by reviewing Quality issues regarding products and working process.
  • Lead an activity to decide Containment, Corrective actions, Preventative actions for Quality issues by managing a faulty assembly, component, process or service and preventing recurrence of it.
  • Work with the Supply Chain, Product Quality, Production, Manufacturing Engineering and Development Engineering to improve product quality across the supply chain.
  • Audit and Management Review.
  • Lead internal audit for Quality.
  • Face external audit by third party and Nikon for Quality.
  • Execute Management Review for Quality.
  • Create a plan of resolving Non-conformances found in an audit for quality and leading an activity to do that.
  • Lead role in the Quality audit of suppliers.

Regulatory Standards

  • Knowledge and understanding of ISO9001, ISO17025, ISO 14001 and other applicable ISO regulator standards.
  • Understanding Nikon-Quality Management Directive (QMD) and IMBU Quality Management System (QMS). Work with these standards when developing the NMI Quality Management System
  • Knowledge and understanding of safety regulations: such as CE, UK Conformity Assessed (UKCA), FDA, etc., and leading necessary actions to comply with them.
  • Understanding chemical hazardous substances regulations: such as Nikon Green Procurement Standard, Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH), Registry of Occupational Safety and Health (ROSH), etc. and leading necessary actions to comply with them. Leading role in surveying chemical substance compliance by suppliers

Quality KPI

  • Analyze Quality Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as Continuous Improvement Report (CIRs), Internal Continuous Improvement Report (iCIRs), Warranties and implementing improvement plan

ANCILLARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Making a timetable for quality improvement activities, thinking about budget and resources.
  • Working closely with the Development, Manufacturing Engineering, Product Quality and Operations teams to improve product and services Quality.
  • Perform other tasks and duties as assigned.
  • Develop and maintain good Quality records.

QUALIFICATIONS:

ESSENTIAL

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • 5-7 years work experience. A background in manufacturing, metrology, optics, electronics, robotics, or other high-tech industries is preferred
  • Knowledge and experience in creating and working with Quality Management Systems
  • Vender audit experience
  • Understanding and experience with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 17025

Certificates, License, Registrations:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Quality or an Engineering discipline

Desirable

  • Experience executing reliability/safety/functional testing on new products.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Lean/Six Sigma.

FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES:

  • Able to interact effectively with engineers and technicians to get necessary information and support to complete projects.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite.

BUDGET RESPONSIBILITY

  • None directly but will be responsible to provide input for both Operating Expenditure (OPEX) and Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) to management

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Portions of the workday will be spent on the shop floor working inside Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) controlled and temperature-controlled areas.
  • Ability to travel as required, including weekend days and international travel.
