**Position Overview:**

The SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory's Contractor Assurance and Contract Management Division has an exciting employment opportunity for Quality Assurance Project Manager (QAPM) to serve as the primary quality assurance point of contact for various project.

As a member of our Contractor Assurance and Contract Management team, you will primarily support projects by assisting in the development and maintenance of effective quality assurance practices to mitigate risk and ensure compliance. You will partner closely with project management teams to provide excellent Quality Assurance support and guidance. You will be responsible and accountable for delivering all elements of the SLAC Quality Management Program and compliance with project-specific requirements.

Additionally, you will assist in identifying and developing the necessary quality control practices to specific aspects of the design, procurement, manufacturing, test, and initial operations of assigned projects. Job activities may include planning, performing, and documenting assessments of processes against requirements. You will support the implementation of corrective action plans, analyzes performance data, and developing and reviewing procedures.

The Quality Assurance Project Manager (QAPM) reports to the Quality Assurance Deputy Director.

**Your specific responsibilities include:**

+ Work closely with SLAC and Partner lab scientists, engineers, and technicians to implement quality assurance principles in design, engineering, procurement, manufacturing, testing, receiving, inspections, construction, installation and commissioning processes.

+ Function as the central contact for QA on assigned projects and provide appropriate support and coordination to complete deliverables on time and within budget.

+ Communicate effectively across directorates and divisions to promote a graded approach to QA.

+ Review engineering documentation to determine quality requirements. Reviews supporting manufacturing documentation to ensure that they contain the necessary criteria and provisions to permit effective inspection and/or testing of materials and assemblies.

+ Participate in the review and disposition of non-conforming material. Initiate corrective action as required and assure completion of such actions.

+ Perform assessments, inspections, or audits at SLAC, partner labs and suppliers in accordance with established quality plans and requirements.

+ Physically conduct field inspections and participate in project walk-downs which may require the following activities: walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, scaffolding, using fall protection and using other personal protective equipment (PPE), walking on elevated platforms, walking on uneven surfaces, and maneuvering around very small and/or confined spaces

+ Establish routine trend analysis of performance metrics, identifying appropriate actions to correct and drive needed quality improvements, establish commitments and follow-up.

+ Provide interpretations and requirements from specifications, codes, and standards as needed.

+ Reviews purchased products or components and provides input to the decision of whether to accept the product and future purchases from the vendor.

+ Develop and champion the improvement of engineering procedures and processes.

+ Support project document control processes and methods related to systems engineering, design management, and quality assurance. Ensure the documentation methods are well understood by staff and obtain feedback for further improvement.

+ Provide quality-related support and technical assistance to other groups within the laboratory as required.

+ Drive the initiative of the Quality Assurance program from development to implementation across the laboratory and project space.

+ Participate in cross-functional teams and strategic development activities when requested.

+ Communicate regularly with colleagues, DOE and other National Laboratory personnel, as appropriate.

**To be successful in this position:**

+ Bachelor's degree in physics, Engineering or related field and a minimum of 4 years of experience including the following:

+ Manufacturing operations or engineering in a sustaining or quality assurance role

+ Demonstrated expertise/capabilities in process improvement, root cause analysis, and data analysis.

+ Developing, implementing and maintaining quality or process improvement plans and projects.

+ Ability to work and communicate effectively with diverse teams, across multiple locations. Strong collaboration skills are needed.

+ Able to work both in a team environment as well as work independently.

+ Expertise/certification in Lean Manufacturing, ISO 9001, Six Sigma or Human Performance Technology a plus.

The expected pay range for this position is $140,000 - $207,000per annum. SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory/Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
