Now hiring for Quality Assurance Technicians in Newport News, VA!Shift: 3:00pm - 11:30pm Pay: $19.00/hrMonitors processes and collects information about products produced, packed, to ensure products meet or exceed customer and internal requirements and government regulations.Assist in the training of new Quality Assurance On-Line Technicians. Environment: Plant Environment: The plant work environment will expose the employee to loud noise, food grade dust & odors, moving & vibrating machinery, heavy equipment, powered industrial trucks, heights, traffic, anhydrous ammonia, oil, electricity.The employee may be exposed to adverse weather conditions including extreme cold (50 degrees F), heat (80 degrees F), rain, snow, dust, smoke and odors.Allergens found inside the plant include: fish, shellfish, nuts, eggs, wheat, soy, milk and coconut.Specific Job Responsibilities:
- On-Line Monitoring and Data Collection
- Ensures adherence to the In-Process Inspection section of the Quality Manual.
- Checks products on-line against internal specifications.
- Notifies the responsible Production Supervisor immediately when products do not meet required specifications.
- Works with Production Supervisors to minimize the amount of product that is placed on hold.
- Properly completes all paperwork required for the on-line monitoring tasks being performed.
- Product evaluations per CFR50
- Release/place on hold products/materials related to production
- Sanitation Inspections
- Ensures adherence to the Sanitation section of the Quality Manual.
- Performs daily preoperational sanitation inspections and records results.
- Inspect equipment between Sanitation and reassembly by Maintenance
- Monitors general plant sanitation and Production Associate sanitation practices throughout the day.
- Performs ATP Bioluminescent surface testing daily, more often when required.
- Properly completes all paperwork associated with sanitation inspections.
- Gauge Control
- Checks scales each morning; and tags scales that are not working properly.
- Properly completes all paperwork associated with scale control tasks.
- General
- Assists in training of new Technicians for in process inspection auditing.
- Serves in the other functional areas of Quality Assurance, as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned in support of HLF's QA program.
Job Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- HACCP certification preferred
- Good basic mathematical ability
- Well-developed and demonstrated English-language communication (both written and verbal), interpersonal, and decision-making abilities
- Reliability, decisiveness, good judgment, assertiveness, flexibility, persistence, and patience
- The ability to strictly enforce rules and regulations with diplomacy and tact
- Experience in quality assurance, food handling or food processing, and knowledge of food sanitation requirements are preferred, but not mandatory
- Able to stand for long periods of time in a laboratory environment.
- Must have own transportation
- Must be able to work in -44° to 80° Fahrenheit for a short duration
- Must be available for overtime as needed.
- Needs to be company-oriented.
