Job Description:
- Daily Observations. Observe Construction Contractor performance, and whether they are in full compliance with contract plans, specifications, approved workplans and submittals, EM 385-1-1, OSHA requirements, etc.
- Daily Inspection. Inspect Construction Contractor plant, materials, and equipment per contract requirements, contract plans, specifications, approved workplans, EM 385-1-1 and OSHA requirements.
- Photographic History. Take photographic documentation and maintain a digital photographic history of the project(s). Photos will also be taken of the following events: existing conditions prior to construction, disputed work items, work that must be duplicated replaced or removed, completed work, extra work, etc.
- Daily Report. Report daily observations, inspections, photographs and other information into Resident Management System (RMS) and via Microsoft Office suite of products, Adobe Acrobat, and other commonly used software products.
- Review QC Reports. Review Construction Contractor's daily Quality Control (QC) Reports.
- Meetings. Attend preconstruction and pre-performance conferences, quality control coordination meetings, progress meetings, safety meetings, etc.
- Punchlist. Prepare and provide inspection of punch-list corrective actions and coordinate final inspections, in coordination with Government Project Engineer or designee.
- Schedule. Review Construction Contractor Schedule updates.
- Monthly Progress Reports. Provide a monthly progress report in narrative form, with a summary of activities performed that month, project schedule evaluation, pending action items, and problems and recommended solutions.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- 3-5 Years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Must have knowledge of building and construction crafts since detailed inspections must be made to ensure the required level of workmanship
- Must be able to satisfactorily pass client-required background check.
- Must be able to effectively use computers, scanners, printers, and plotters.
- Must be familiar with Microsoft Office suite of products, Adobe Acrobat, and other commonly used software products.
- Must be familiar with construction management software programs, such as ProjectTeam, Procore, ProjectWise, etc.
- Must possess Concrete and Asphalt inspection certificates.
- Due to the nature of the project US citizenship is required.
- Up to 50% of the time the position needs to move about indoor and outdoor construction site environments with uneven terrain, variable environmental conditions including heat, cold, dust, noise, moisture, and dryness.
- Occasionally (10-25% of workday) performing repetitive bending/stooping, repetitive or fine hand movements, working at heights, and lifting and carrying equipment weighing less than 25 pounds.
- At times the position requires working with arms above shoulder level, power gripping/squeezing (hand tools, levers, etc.), climbing stairs, using portable ladders, wearing fall protection, working in confined spaces, and lifting greater than 25 pounds.
- The position requires wearing associated personal protective equipment, including, but not limited to gloves, safety glasses/goggles, face shield, safety shoes/boots, hard hat, hearing protection, and fall protection.
- Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable.
- Must be capable of reading contract drawings and specifications.
- Demonstrate proficiency and effective communications skills in the English language in both oral and written forms.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related field (engineering, operations, CM, etc.)
- 10 years of experience as a QA Rep or construction inspector on USACE construction projects
- Experience with wide range of trades including, civil, transportation, electrical, mechanical, HVAC, roofing, and general building construction
- Experience using Microsoft Office
- Experience using Resident Management System (RMS) project management software.
- Knowledge of the USACE Three Phase Inspection Process
- Knowledge of the USACE Construction Quality Management (CQM)
- Knowledge of EM 385-1 Safety Requirements
- CQM Certification
