JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for the development, deployment, and auditing of food safety and quality protocol, systems, processes, and programs in the retail stores, as well as the delivery of quality products to our customers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The following description of work to be performed by this individual is not intended to be all-inclusive. Rather, it focuses on the major tasks that must be accomplished. There are many necessary activities to satisfy any of the following performance guidelines.

* Provide assistance to all Lunds & Byerlys team members modeling company customer service standards at all times

* Develop, implement, and maintain food safety and quality standards in the retail environment by ensuring team members are trained on company policies, standards, and procedures; monitor compliance to policies and procedures; distributing and maintaining procedures and supporting documentation

* Facilitate communication and compliance with The Minnesota Food Code between retail stores and inspection agencies. Follow up on non-conformances to reduce the number and severity of violations

* Identify customer and/or supplier concerns and determine corrective action to take or make recommendations to resolve, consulting with others when needed

* Investigate store product quality issues including consumer concerns and determine corrective action to take or make recommendations in order to resolve, interfacing with appropriate facilities, vendors, and co-packers when needed

* Manage retail chemical program by developing, communicating, and maintaining store sanitation procedures

* Coordinate with stores and category managers on new product launches, recipes, and training

* Conduct recall effectiveness checks at stores to ensure all recalled product is removed and accounted for successfully

* Maintain and ensure accuracy of ingredient and in-store recipe specifications with category managers

* Conduct food safety and quality audits in stores

* Collaborate with broader quality assurance team to resolve product concerns

* Maintain relationships with key stakeholders to stay informed to local, state, and federal regulatory changes in food safety and quality, and manage corporate adaptions to those changes

* Perform all other related assignments (including special projects) as required in a professional and cooperative manner.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

* Education

* Bachelor's degree in science, microbiology, food science or equivalent experience

* Certifications:

* Required: CFPM

* Desired: REHS, SQF Practitioner, HACCP certification

* Experience

* Three to five years of experience in food safety and quality auditing and training in a retail setting

* GMP or HACCP knowledge preferred.

* Ability to maintain compliance with USDA, FDA, and all other regulatory agencies while complying with good manufacturing practices

* Planning, organizing and time management skills

* Ability to maintain confidentiality

* Ability to read, write, speak and comprehend English
