Assists with the coordination of quality improvement/quality assurance/patient safety activities to maintain and improve patient care services. Performs appropriate concurrent and retrospective quality review studies using methodologies that include, but are not limited to electronic and hard copy medical record review, data extraction and aggregation, computer data entry using internet-based software and simple calculations. Follows-up and investigates activities as assigned and directed by the Director of Quality. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE: 1. Registered Nurse licensed in WV. EXPERIENCE: 1. 5 years clinical experience. 2. Individual must be able to work independently and collaborate in a positive manner with other hospital personnel and medical staff members. 3. Must be detail oriented, proficient with communication, and critical thinking skills. Must maintain confidentiality of health information while carrying out the duties of the position. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE: 1. Bachelor of Science in Nursing or Master of Science in Nursing EXPERIENCE: 1. Experience with data analysis and a background in one or more of Quality/Patient Safety/Joint Commission / Patient Experience / Performance Improvement. CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. Coordinates quality improvement/quality assurance/patient safety activities to maintain and improve patient care services. 2. Analyzes, interprets and reports data to the appropriate departments and hospital committees. 4. Assists Director with leading and directing quality reviews, Performance Measures and other performance initiatives and maintains competency with Premier Quality software for that purpose. 5. Interacts with physicians and staff to improve performance/quality measures. 6. Creates reports as designated. 7. Assists with policy revision/development as necessary. 8. Communicates and interacts with patients, families, visitors, physicians, departmental and hospital staff and the public in general in a manner that demonstrates professionalism and concern for the individuals' need(s). 9. Obtains work related continuing education as required for professional licensure. 10. Remains current and responsive to changes in healthcare delivery, standards established by professional organizations, regulatory and accrediting bodies and the needs of the organization. 11. Willingly accepts assignments within scope of practice, skill set and level of competence. 12. Assists Director with survey readiness activities, such as mock surveys, chapter meetings, corrective action plans. 13. Assists Director with Performance Improvement Teams including leading and directing. 14. Exercises proper stewardship through the appropriate use of supplies, equipment, and time. 15. Establishes and maintains tracking systems for identified problems/indicators. Develops and implements appropriate plans of action to correct identified deficiencies as needed. 16. May assist Director with Patient Experience activities including data management and action plans as needed. 17. Must be knowledgeable of Joint Commission processes and standards and keep current with changing requirements.
