The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all personal care products manufactured by third-party vendors meet our company's quality standards and comply with regulatory requirements. This role involves working closely with vendors, internal teamThe Quality Assurance Specialist reports to the VP, Quality Assurance.This role is based in NYC and you will be expected in office a few days a week, at minimum.Responsibilities:Vendor Management:Collaborate with third-party manufacturers to ensure compliance with quality standards and regulations (finished goods and components)Conduct regular audits and inspections (digital, document focused and onsite) of third-party facilities to assess compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and company-specific quality standardsReview and approve vendor quality agreements, ensuring they meet company and regulatory requirementsQuality Control:Monitor the quality of finished products from third-party vendorsInvestigate non-compliances, write CAPAs, and record findingsTravel as necessary to third party vendors to oversee production runs, participating in problem-solving related to product qualityDevelop and implement quality control procedures and protocols for third-party manufacturingReview and approve certificates of analysis (COAs) and other quality documentation provided by vendors.Continuous Improvement:Identify opportunities for improving product quality and manufacturing processes at third-party facilitiesIdentify opportunities for improvements in department efficienciesWork with vendors to implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs) to address any identified issuesParticipate in cross-functional teams to drive quality improvement initiativesDocumentation and Reporting:Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all quality-related activities with third-party vendorsPrepare and present regular quality reports to management, highlighting trends, issues, and improvement actionsSupport internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and informationQualifications:Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, or a related fieldAdvanced degree or certifications in quality management is a plusMinimum of 3-5 years of experience in quality assurance or quality control, preferably in the personal care, cosmetics, or pharmaceutical industriesExperience working with third-party manufacturers is highly desirableStrong knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and relevant quality standards (e.g., ISO, SMETA)Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with external vendors and internal teamsStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detailProficiency in quality management software and toolsAbility to travel as needed to vendor locations for audits and inspectionsStrong problem-solving skills with the ability to break down issues to basic form that can be easily understood by all levels of management both verbally and in written formatAbility to make decisions of moderate complexity independently and escalate complex decisions as neededSolution oriented mindset to resolve day to day issuesAbility to work independently to meet objectivesWhat We Offer$100,000/yr - $115,000/yr. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
