Responsibilities
* Train or initiate training for lab personnel as needed in SPC, GMP, ISO, test methods, defects, quality procedures, systems, etc.
* Manage the QA lab activities to ensure compliance with customer, internal, ISO, and / or other needed, for non-exempt salaried and hourly QA personnel. Ensure all procedures and equipment meet documented requirements.
* Ensure all new and existing products / processes are tested in accordance to (and meet) our documented procedures and work instructions. Contain suspect and / or defective product.
* Support requirements of the business through requests from the QA, R&D, Commercial Team, Product Management, Customer Service, Plant Management or other requests for product testing, labeling, inspection, shipment audits as needed to support the business.
* Ensure timely product containments (NCMR's) are tracked and completed.
* Product Release - Responsible for controlling product documentation, testing, removing material from hold, and product release for customer satisfaction.
* Assist with root cause analysis of quality related issues, waste, and scrap reduction.
* Assist with monitoring operations for conformance to quality systems and continuous improvement.
* Ensure all new and existing products/processes meet our documented procedures and all QA lab employees are trained in the appropriate procedures and work instructions.
* In conjunction with the Calibration Specialist, identify the need for, and coordinate the calibration and / or verification of measurement devices in the facility. Maintain calibration software and timing requirements.
* Prompt responses to requests for testing or inspections in support of the business needs.
* Lab Software Database - Controls and maintains the lab software for new products, specification changes, data entry, and knowledge of statistical data summaries to assist lab techs.
* External Testing - Contacting outside labs to get quotes for testing and send samples.
* Cost Savings - Responsible for ideas / projects that drive savings to achieve plant objectives.
* Identify improvement needs for the QA department.
* Support Operations Excellence initiatives of the company, i.e., Six-Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, etc.
* Interviewing and hiring for lab tech positions.
* Evaluation of staff performance.
* Completion of layered audits.
* Overnight travel is occasionally required.
* Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
