Individuals in this position will be involved in ensuring that all internal, customer, and specification requirements are met by facilitating the development and completion of all PPAP and FAI documentation and requirements. Involvement in the APQP and New Product Launch processes and cross-functional cooperation are imperative to understanding and ensuring customer requirements are captured and achieved. - Maintain the PPAP and FAI system by ensuring all documentation is completed and retained per Company and customer requirements
- Actively participate in the AS9145 APQP process to ensure the Company identifies and achieves customer requirements on new product launches
- Interact with customers in conjunction with the Quality Assurance Manager, Sales, and Project Manager to identify and achieve customer requirements
- Work with Purchasing to ensure identified customer requirements have been flowed down and achieved by Suppliers
- Lead the development of all PPAP components and oversee the timely and accurate completion PPAPs in accordance with AIAG and customer specific requirements
- Lead the development FMEAs, Control Plans, internal work instructions, inspection guides, quality alerts, and other documentation for existing and new processes and products
- Oversee the completion of First Article Inspections in accordance with AS9102 and customer specific requirements
- Coordinate and interact with Customer representatives and third-party inspectors for Source Inspection when needed
- Work with Quality, Production, Engineering and Purchasing to identify and implement lessons learned from new product launches and assist in monitoring ongoing quality performance
- Support Quality Engineers in performing root cause analysis and facilitate the corrective action process to sustain continuous improvement of products and processes
- Help identify and implement opportunities for improvement to the quality system, manufacturing and inspection methods, and products through internal audits, statistical data, and routine interaction
- Additional support of daily QA Lab responsibilities such as receiving inspection, final inspection, product testing, and reviewing/compiling material certification packages as needed
- Conduct internal audits per AS9100 and AS14001; perform product & process audits
- Perform or assist with additional directives assigned by the QA Manager
- Adherence to attendance policy; all work must be completed on site during scheduled work hours
Education and Experience Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalency required
- Associate or bachelor's degree in a technical field or Business is preferred
- Minimum three (3) years of direct experience with PPAP and First Article Inspection
- Demonstrated knowledge of the APQP process, experience with AIAG standards and AS9145 is preferred
- Additional education, training, and/or certification pertinent to Quality (including ASQ or AIAG) is preferred
- Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO9001 Quality Systems in a manufacturing environment
- Experience conducting and documenting First Article Inspections per AS9102 requirements, experience with supporting customer Source Inspection is preferred
- Experience creating and compiling PPAPs for the automotive industry in the AIAG standard format
- Working knowledge and detailed understanding of PFMEA/DFMEA, Control Plans, MSA, Gage R&R, Process Capability, Dimensional Reports, Material Test Results, and other PPAP components
- Proficiency in reading engineering and manufacturing drawings and specifications
- Experience with various testing methods and hand measurement tools including calipers, micrometers, indicators, height gages, torque wrenches, optical comparators, and tensile testers
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work to a zero-defect mentality
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Basic proficiency with computers, standard Microsoft Office program suite, Minitab, 1factory
- Must be a US Citizen as some work requires ITAR compliance
Work Environment:
- Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., onsite with some flexibility.
- Ability to utilize all quality tools associated with the position and/or projects
- Ability to walk, navigate stairs, use PPE and follow all safety standards.
- Lift up to 20# with or without accommodation.
- Will work with engineering, production and sales on projects that support aerospace industry.
- Travel is negligible; must attend technical workshops and/or symposiums relevant to the position and organization needs as an ESOP.
