Job Summary:

The Quality Assurance Technician's Responsibility is to assure that all products, processed, packed, stored, and shipped, are under good sanitary conditions and according to Heinen's procedures and Government standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for reporting, tracking, analyzing, and resolving store and/or consumer complaints.
  • Promotes safety through regular scheduled safety meetings, daily discussions and observations.
  • Maintains all documentation for the Heinen's Quality System.
  • Responsible for training associates in Quality Control and/or Assurance techniques and procedures to perform all tests, audits, and inspections through proper supervision.
  • Assures accurate results or analytical, microbiological, and organoleptic tests through proper maintenance and adjustment of laboratory equipment.
  • Reviews specifications for packaging materials and assists in accepting or rejecting incoming packaging material based on performance.
  • Assists on requests for work orders for supplier related production losses.
  • Reads and reacts to process audits both internal and external (USDA, Health Department, ODA).
  • Informs the appropriate team members of laboratory results and other Quality Assurance information through verbal communication and the Gleason system.
  • Interfaces with others, most often staff members, on plant conditions, process, procedure and policy deviations.
  • Directs Quality Assurance responsibility with FDA, USDA, and State Department of Agriculture, as well as outside auditing companies.
  • Responsible for auditing sanitation in order to comply with State and Federal governmental law.
  • Assists in developing and implementing the production facility HACCP program.
  • Quarantines or approve hourly production based on hourly analytical process controls, food safety/HACCP checks, microbiological and organoleptic analysis.
  • Work with Supply Chain Analyst to ensure that food packaging meets company and Preventive Controls requirements.
  • Assists in accepting or rejecting incoming packaging material.
  • Participates in Food Safety Team meetings on HACCP and current issues.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • A minimum of 1 year food safety experience is preferred.
  • HACCP Certifications preferred.
  • Able to use Microsoft tools including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Able to lead, problem solve, communicate, motivate and mediate.
  • Knowledge of operations, equipment and standard specifications.
  • Understands and complies with government regulations, process sheets and quality procedures.
  • Able to work the number of hours required to meet company objectives.
