SUMMARY: The Quality Assurance Technician's primary responsibility is the overall quality of manufactured products. They test processes, monitor quality standards, create documentation, devise quality tests, and define the criteria a test result should meet. The Quality Assurance technician monitors the quality of a process and the systems that drive data collection and analysis while playing play a key role in fixing issues when they arise.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Performs inspections and tests of cans, can components, packaging products, etc. per documented procedures
* Obtains and recommends dispositions for noted defects
* Part of the team for SQF pre audit and compliance
* Proven ability to use the following types of tools, and evaluate their measurement results to determine conformance to specification
* hand tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, linear scales)
* gauges (e.g., pins, thread, custom gages)
* optical tools (e.g., comparators, profiles, microscopes)
* electronic measuring equipment (e.g., digital displays, output)
* weights, balances, and scales
* surface plate methods and equipment
* force measurement tools (e.g., torque wrenches, tensiometer)
* gage maintenance, handling, and storage
* Prepares and maintains QA records.
* Perform root cause analysis to improve poor performing processes while building cross-functional support for any proposed solutions and required assistance from stakeholders and support teams
* Identify gaps with SOP's and Job Instructions, advise/assist with document development
* assumes lead role in notifying responsible supervisors and plant management of noncompliance to established operating procedures
* Researches and recommends upgrades in QA equipment and methods
* Perform calibrations for measuring devices
* Generate Certificates of conformance (CoC) and Certificates of analysis (CoA) as required
* Supports goals and objectives for the QA department and company quality & safety policies
* Works on other shifts as needed/required to provide QA support for scheduled absence within the department and/or to support business requirements
* Other duties as assigned

* Must be familiar with Microsoft Office Applications with emphasis on the use of Outlook, Word and Excel beyond basic usage.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: The successful candidate is preferred to have as a minimum High School Diploma or GED; and one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Incumbent must possess the ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: The incumbent must have the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume and the ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
COMPUTER SKILLS: The incumbent must have the ability to perform basic computer functions using MS Word and Excel.
REASONING ABILITY: Incumbent must have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
