JOB SUMMARY (the purpose and general nature of the job): This position is responsible for dimensionally inspecting in-process and final machined parts primarily using CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) and other typical inspection equipment. This position will also assist manufacturing personnel with accurate and timely inspections. Perform calibration of hand held measurement instruments. PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- CMM programming and operation.
- Perform first-piece, in-process, and final dimensional inspections.
- Gage calibration.
- Assist all manufacturing personnel with measurements and gauging.
- Perform receiving inspection and subcontracted processes.
- Maintain a clean and organized inspection area.
- Work with manufacturing personnel to improve processes and overall manufacturing quality.
- Additional responsibilities and duties may be assigned.
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS: Minimal requirements for education, knowledge and experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Intermediate level CMM programming and operation experience is a must.
- Zeiss Calypso software experience desired.
- ASQ certificate in Mechanical Inspection is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in dimensional inspection of machined details.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS: This position requires the ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities in the following environment:
- Work schedule generally consists of 40 hours per week, which may include on-call status, evenings, and/or weekends.
- Individual must be capable of occasionally lifting 50lbs and standing for extended periods of time and capable of climbing stairs.
- Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including eye protection, hearing protection, hand and foot protection or other specific PPE as required.
- Work with or around various oils, coolants and other common machine shop chemicals.
- Must be able to speak English and work in team environment.
