Quality Control Manager Summary:Responsible for the overall quality assurance of procured / manufactured product, & after sales warranty support, along with interfacing with customers regarding current & long-term quality / service concerns.The position provides quality related support, advice and assistance to management, operational staff, suppliers, & customers.Responsible for designing & implementing methods for process control, process improvement through Lean/Kaizen activities, testing and inspection.Quality Control Manager Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Develop, apply, and maintain quality requirements and standards for development and manufacturing of products.
- Serve as the primary Quality Assurance resource to department lead(s) for problem identification, root cause identification, and effective corrective/preventive action completion.
- Design and implement methods for process control, process improvement, testing, and inspection.
- Develop, execute, and analyze quality-reporting measures (Department/Cell and Plant-Wide)
- Report to management on quality issues, trends, and losses.
- Develop, execute, and analyze supplier quality measures/metrics.
- Participate in internal and external quality audits.
- Interface with supplier and customer quality representatives concerning problems with quality assurance and assure that effective corrective/preventive action is implemented to resolve issues moving forward.
- Compile, document, and deliver training material / SOPs on quality standards/processes/activities.
- Manage the measuring equipment calibration system.
- Root cause problem solving of key quality issues using tools such as Fishbone, 5 Whys, etc.
- Provide feedback at the R&D & manufacturing level in relation to customer feedback, and potential quality related issues.
Required Education, Knowledge & Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent.
- Minimum (5) years' experience.
- Previous quality management experience in a medium to large organization.
- Ability to read manufacturing drawings and use measurement equipment.
- Demonstrated use of Root Cause Problem Solving tools and techniques.
- Broad knowledge of theory and principles of statistics and statistical process control.
- Diverse knowledge of inspection and control methods, techniques, and documentation.
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight time schedules.
- Efficient computer skills Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint.
- Ability to demonstrate considerable attention to detail.
- The ability to apply high ethical standards and represent the organization in a professional manner.
- Ability to act ethically and confidentially.
- A strong internal and external customer service ethos.
- Experience in managing & developing staff
Desirable Criteria
- Certificate in quality management or higher management related qualification
- Knowledge of assembly, welding, and fabrication industries
- Heavy Equipment / Transportation / Automotive industry experience
- Lean manufacturing or six sigma experience
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to communicate clearly
- Requires ability to sit, stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, crawl, and kneel
- Specific vision ability required includes close, distance, color, and peripheral vision with depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:Manufacturing work environment that has frequent exposure to fumes or airborne particles, noise intensity level, proximity to moving mechanical parts and exposure to weather.
