Job Description:
Hino Motors Manufacturing is an OEM that assembles trucks in West Virginia, automotive components in Arkansas, and operates a parts distribution center in California. We are currently seeking a Quality Control Specialist CVIP (complete vehicle inspection process) located in Mineral Wells/Williamstown, WV reporting directly to Assistant Manager, Quality Control. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring vehicle quality meets all customer expectations, effectively responds to non-conformances, maintains quality system requirements, and ensures documented practices meet quality system standards. Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist and assure that customer needs, expectations, and satisfaction is determined, converted into requirements, and achieved
  • Examine departmental work processes, research procedures, and administrative procedures; recommend appropriate change
  • Assure the quality policy and quality objectives are established and effectively implemented
  • Diagnose and determine true root cause of chronic problems and generate proposals for appropriate/applicable preventative countermeasures
  • Ensure all quality control processes are in control and trending to support the plant's Hoshin Kanri key performance objectives (e.g., supplier PPM, vehicle DPU, QA SQA)
  • Manage Yard audit containment activities for identified defects via SQA/CVIP
  • Manage shipping suspensions and rework records as needed
  • Utilize root cause analysis and provide solutions that prevent recurrence of failures
  • Support standardized work creation and updates for quality control processes to include analysis and time studies
  • Manage updates and model year changes to ensure CVIP inspections are in-line with CVIS
  • Generate documents to confirm customer specific options are met
  • Drive process improvements by examining departmental work processes and recommending appropriate changes
  • Monitor ECI releases and update inspections/checks to confirm change points are identified, interpret change points using process knowledge to advise on process changes needed due to engineering changes or new model activity
  • Lead cross-functional team to complete Corrective Action (CAR) activity
  • Maintain working knowledge of CVIP equipment (dynamic tester, brake tester, and turn radius) and provide troubleshooting support when required
  • Manage use, ensure proper information, and troubleshoot in QC specific software systems i.e. ATS
Education & Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited four-year college or university or equivalent combination of experience, education, and certification
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in an engineering related field or equivalent combination of experience, education and certification
Required Skills:
  • Lean Manufacturing
  • Lean Six Sigma and other problem-solving methodologies
  • Geometric/Dimensional Tolerance (GD&T)
  • Microsoft Office Programs - Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to design custom reports as necessary
  • Adeptness to be tactful, flexible and work well under pressure
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt desirable
  • A3 Trained
  • IATF desirable
  • ASQ certification (CQE/CQT) preferred
