Quality Engineer 2 - SureScan designs, manufactures, sells and services baggage screening systems for checked baggage for airports around the world. These scanners utilize computed tomography to analyze the contents of a bag for threats. Technologies of software, algorithms, physics, x-rays, computed tomography and high voltage systems are applied to our product. Our engineers and scientists find the work here technically fascinating, as it allows for constant learning and exploration in a production environment. This quality engineering position has responsibility for supplier and process quality for SureScan. Responsibilities include participating in supplier assessments and selection, performing pre-analysis and acceptance on mechanical prints, including analysis of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing. This person will also inspect and test warranty return materials and perform failure analysis on them, including tear-down and inspection of failed x-ray tube assemblies. This engineer will also drive process quality and process definitions to improve performance and reliability of x-ray generator assemblies, working collaboratively with our subcontractor who performs the assembly. Maintain Bill of Materials Audit suppliers for capability, participate in supplier selection Review engineering specifications and drawings Assess manufacturability of designs Maintain awareness of new processes and methodologies for manufacturing products Maintain list of design releases required from Engineering to ensure procurement BOM up to date Arranges and participates in conferences between suppliers and engineers, purchasers, inspectors, and other company personnel to facilitate material inspection, substitution, standardization, rework, salvage, utilization, and economical procurement of parts and equipment. Qualifications: Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree from four year college or university; or three or more years related experience and/or training in procurement engineering, quality or process engineering in a manufacturing environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience. A degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or physics is helpful. Familiarity with machining processes is helpful.
