Key Responsibilities of the Quality Engineer:- Root Cause Analysis: Perform thorough root cause analysis for internal and external complaints, implementing effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Contract Reviews: Review contracts and purchase orders to ensure all technical and quality specifications are accurately identified and implemented.
- Quality Plans and Inspection: Develop and maintain comprehensive quality and inspection plans tailored to meet specific customer needs.
- Internal Audits: Conduct internal quality system audits and process audits to verify compliance with ISO9001 and AS9100 standards.
- Performance Metrics Analysis: Analyze quality performance metrics, identify trends, and recommend actionable improvements for manufacturing processes.
- Supplier Quality Management: Assist in resolving supplier quality issues and collaborate closely with manufacturing and quality control teams to address challenges.
Profile
The Successful Quality Engineer:
- Educational Background: Holds a BS degree in a technical field or has at least 5 years of experience in contract manufacturing, specifically in high-reliability electro/mechanical assemblies for the defense/aerospace industry.
- Quality Standards Expertise: Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and standards, with a strong understanding of J-STD-001, IPC-A-610, and AS9102 First Article requirements.
- Analytical Skills: Demonstrated ability to perform root cause analysis using methodologies such as 8D, fishbone diagrams, and 5 Whys.
- Continuous Improvement Knowledge: Experienced in applying continuous improvement tools and methodologies, including Kaizen, Six Sigma, and lean principles.
- Audit Experience: Familiarity with conducting quality and process audits under ISO9001 and AS9100 standards, with AS9100 lead auditor certification considered a plus.
- Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interface with customers, suppliers, and internal teams, along with experience addressing quality concerns.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, enabling effective documentation and presentation of quality-related information.
