About the job Quality Engineer Experience Level: Mid-Senior (3 Years Required)Education Level: Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Technical/Science Discipline (Advanced degree in Quality or Ceramic Engineering preferred)Salary: $71,000 - $80,000Type: Full Time + BenefitsLocation: Buckhannon, WVJob Overview:The Quality Engineer will report directly to the R&D and Quality Manager and will play a pivotal role in ensuring customer requirements are met across all manufacturing processes, guaranteeing the desired product characteristics. This position involves active participation in the Q&PC Integrated Support Team (IST) to provide process and quality control guidance, technical support, and coordination with the sites three Integrated Process Teams.Essential Functions:Process & Quality Control (50%):Directly supervise IPT Quality Engineers, Lab Technicians, and Final Inspectors.Plan and direct activities related to the development, application, and maintenance of quality standards for processes, materials, and products.Oversee the establishment and implementation of product parameters and control methods for material/product acceptance.Develop and initiate standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation.Lead focus teams and special projects to resolve systemic rejects, determine root cause, and correct key quality issues.Quality Management System (20%):Ensure site-wide ISO9000 compliance and certification.Direct the planning, implementation, and maintenance of the facilitys Quality System in line with WCM PQC Pillar Steps and requirements.Oversee Document Control, review/approval of controlled documents, and Supplier Quality Management.Implement Quality Risk Management in relevant aspects of the QMS Internal audit program.WCM (20%):Contribute as a member of the WCM Pillar for Quality and Process Control (QPC).Provide leadership and training to IST/IPTs using WCM Focused Improvement toolbox for continuous improvement.Actively participate and lead CI/WCM/6 Sigma projects and events throughout the site.Environmental, Health & Safety (10%):Be a behavioral role model for all EHS standards, 5S & workplace organization practices, plant rules, safety regulations, and corporate Values and Attitudes.Partner with leaders to improve EHS culture, awareness, and accountability systems.Entity Specific Functions:Entity: Quality & Process Control Integrated Support Team (IST)Directly supervises IPT Quality Engineers/Technicians, Document Control Clerk, Final Inspectors, and Assemblers.Qualifications:Bachelors degree in Engineering or Technical/Science discipline.Advanced degree in Quality or Ceramic Engineering, preferred.Work Experience:Minimum 3 years of practical Quality department experience within a manufacturing environment.Experience in change management, leading audits, and implementing quality management systems.Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 requirements and relevant industry standard practices.Leadership:Dedicated, self-starter with a high degree of motivation, able to make independent decisions.Ability to lead teams, incorporate input from all team members, and mold divergent opinions into one common direction.Communicating and Influencing Skills:Ability to present complex ideas simply and clearly to all organizational levels.Demonstrable personal attributes to effectively communicate and influence all levels of the organization.Problem Solving:Lead quality and improvement activities using WCM Focused Improvement Tools and Kaizen methodologies.Utilize effective coaching techniques to develop a culture of employee engagement.Licenses and Certifications:ASQ-CQE certification, preferred.Certified Green Belt or Black Belt and/or other advanced technical problem-solving, preferred.Travel Requirements:Minimal travel for corporate-sponsored meetings, training/seminars, and customer visits.Valid Driver's License, required.
