Overview
As a Quality Specialist at Porex Filtration Group, your primary responsibility will be to oversee the correction, enhancement, and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS) at our Richmond location. You will play a key role in ensuring that all processes adhere to regulatory standards, enhance efficiency, and maintain compliance with internal and external quality standards. This role requires collaboration across departments, including Operations, Product Development, and Regulatory Affairs, to drive process improvements and align the QMS with the company's overall quality objectives.
Responsibilities
QMS Correction & Improvement: Review, analyze, and update the current QMS to ensure compliance with ISO, FDA, and other applicable standards. Identify gaps and inefficiencies within the QMS, recommending and implementing corrective actions. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure QMS processes are integrated into daily operations. Monitor and revise SOPs, work instructions, and quality policies to ensure ongoing regulatory compliance. Process Quality Control: Conduct root cause analysis of quality issues, leading the implementation of corrective and preventive actions. Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing variability and enhancing product consistency. Oversee and guide process validations, equipment installations, and updates to manufacturing methods. Compliance & Audit Support: Ensure that all documentation and processes meet internal standards and regulatory requirements. Assist in internal and external audits, supporting the preparation and execution of corrective actions as needed. Monitor adherence to GMP and ISO standards, addressing any nonconformities promptly. Supplier & Production Quality Management: Audit suppliers for compliance with quality standards and regulations, identifying areas for improvement. Review in-process and final product specifications to evaluate and set appropriate quality control measures. Lead quality initiatives to enhance the supplier qualification process and ensure component quality. Project Leadership & Support: Lead or participate in quality-related projects focusing on improving product safety, efficiency, and overall reliability. Facilitate cross-functional continuous improvement projects using Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen methodologies. Provide training and support on QMS-related topics to ensure team members are aligned with current quality standards and practices.
Qualifications
* Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a shipping/warehouse coordinator or similar role.
* Experience with inventory management software or ERP systems preferred.
* Familiarity with international shipping regulations and documentation.
* Experience with 5S and Lean Manufacturing principles.
Skills
* Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
* Excellent attention to detail, particularly in documentation and inventory control.
* Ability to communicate effectively with internal teams and external partners.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and warehouse management systems.
Physical Requirements:
* Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
* Comfortable working in a warehouse environment and operating material handling equipment.
