Job Summary Quality Engineer will provide support to operational and development programs to enable and deliver zero defect projects utilizing engineering and problem solving skills. Accountable for delivering and maintaining robust capable manufacturing processes. Leads and implements quality first culture by supporting various activities, auditing processes or people, and providing trainings or awareness. Job Responsibilities • Exemplifying a safety-first mind-set and ensuring compliance with the GKN Aerospace Health, Safety and Environmental policies and standards. • Provides technical expertise to solve issues pertaining to vendor schedule and/or quality. • Breaks down technical problems, risk, opportunities, in the correct order to create products and add value to GKN Aerospace through creating Zero Defects • Leads positive, team relationships with internal and external customers, as well as co-workers • Continuously improves production processes by implementing Lean initiatives. • Implement the global business processes to create root cause analysis, preventative and corrective action to eliminate non-conformances utilizing the GKN standard Zero Defect Manufacturing (ZDM) tool suite. • Leading product development, customer quality requirements management and first article development. • Leading supplier audits and assessments along with managing the NCRs generated by audit (i.e. supplier, internal, workstation, customer, certify agents, etc.) • Contribute to the continued development of the Quality Management System by integrating industry and customer requirement and ensuring compliance. • Communicate and visit suppliers to resolve quality issues • Ensure site complies to customer quality systems by auditing or enabling others to audit and monitor actions and closures of findings or opportunities for improvement • Point of contact for customer on all quality related topics (i.e. issues, development, audits, fixed process changes, questions, etc.) • Managing the calibration of measuring equipment (i.e. hand held tools, CMMs, granite surface plates, comparators, tool setter, special built gages/fixtures, etc.) • Conduct internal periodic quality related trainings • Collect and monitor quality data (i.e. non-conformances) and recommend and or review improvements. • Participate in MRB board • Lead bi-weekly quality discussions • Process owner for NADCAP (conventional machining as special process) • Working knowledge of industry and customer self-release programs. • Analyze quality data and generate reports to identify trends and areas for improvement. • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to resolve quality issues. • Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action processes. • Provide training and support staff on quality-related matters. • Maintain accurate documentation and records of quality activities. • Other job duties as assigned Job Qualifications Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering from an accredited university or 4 years equivalent experience
  • Must be fluent in English (speaking and reading)
  • Must be a US Citizen
Physical Requirements:
  • Standing and walking (at least 7hrs/day)
  • Ability to carry and lift up to 25lbs
  • Bending, squatting, reaching, pushing and pulling required (at least 2hrs/day)
  • Use of hands for fine dexterity, light and strong grasping (at least 7hrs/day)
  • 0% - 25% travel to training or suppliers
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Working knowledge of quality system models such as ISOO9000, AS9100
  • Aerospace experience
  • Experience conducting audits
  • Customer facing experience
  • Basic knowledge of machining
  • Training and/or experience in lean tools and techniques (practical problem solving, A3, PFMEA and/or Fishbone diagrams
  • Familiarity with AS9145 APQP process or equivalent
  • Experience with NADCAP requirements
