About the Company:

Our client is a major distributor of specialty steel. They specialize in aircraft/bearing quality steel tubing and bar and are growing through their stocking of high-performance niche steel grades for the bearing and other markets. Their sister company is the sole domestic producer of a unique spring-like fastener used in various mechanical assemblies.

There is crossover to both companies as this role supports their environmental and sustainable requirements.

Job Summary:

We seek an experienced Quality Engineer to oversee the Quality Assurance processes for their manufacturing facility. Your role involves ensuring compliance with quality standards and regulations, implementing management actions, and managing customer inquiries, surveys, and complaints. You will organize and ensure compliance with the latest material specifications, providing essential quality support from project planning through to completion. This role will ensure that products meet customer specifications, industry standards, and company requirements. The ideal candidate will have experience in quality control within a manufacturing environment, preferably in mechanical components. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, ensuring all materials, processes, and procedures meet regulatory and quality standards. Supported by the Quality Manager and President, you will promptly resolve any issues or discrepancies.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Champion safety protocols and adhere strictly to all safety requirements to maintain a secure work environment.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance processes and systems to produce tolerance rings.
  • Conduct inspections, audits, and tests to ensure compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure sustainability program processes and operations compliance with environmental, governmental, and industrial regulations.
  • Analyze data and identify trends to implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support the Quality Management System (QMS) by meticulously organizing documentation and records to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Verify compliance with current material specifications by meticulously validating material certifications against established templates.
  • Design and develop internal auditing tools, conduct thorough internal audits, and prepare detailed audit reports to assess and enhance organizational compliance.
  • Contribute to the oversight and improvement of internal processes by monitoring key metrics on the Quality scorecard and implementing targeted improvements.
  • Assist the Quality Manager in the preparation of comprehensive quality management documentation to ensure readiness for audits and regulatory inspections.
  • Adhere to relevant local governmental regulations pertaining to environmental best practices promoting sustainable solutions.
  • Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. OSHA-10 certification a plus.
    • 2-4 years of experience in quality engineering, preferably in metalworking, steel, or mechanical components manufacturing.
    • Quality Assurance & Control experience preferred.
    • Strong understanding of mechanical components, and their applications is a plus.
    • Proficiency in quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO14001, IATF16949, AS9100) and process compliance such as REACH, RoHS, CBAM, PFAS.
    • Experience with project management, root cause analysis and corrective action processes.
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
    • Detailed-oriented with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
    • Knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements related to manufacturing.

    Salary commensurate with experience. This role will be based onsite.
