About the job Quality Engineering Technician We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Technician to support the quality assurance team in monitoring, testing, and maintaining product standards. This role is crucial in ensuring that our products meet all internal and external quality requirements. The Quality Technician will conduct various quality tests, maintain accurate records, and work collaboratively with other departments to uphold compliance and improve quality processes. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Conduct quality inspections and measurements on products using tools such as micrometers, calipers, cable tapes, and microscopes.
- Perform a range of quality testing procedures, including:
- Test and elongation measurements
- Anti-capillary fluid and air tests
- Strip force testing
- Flame tests (FT-1, FT-2, VW-1, HB)
- Hi-Pot, spark testing, and fluid compatibility tests
- Monitor extrusion line O.D. and conduct short-term aging tests, ensuring adherence to UL standards.
- Maintain and calibrate testing equipment, documenting calibration activities for accuracy.
- Support compliance with RoHS, Reach, Prop65, and other regulatory standards.
- Assist in managing the Quality Management System (QMS) and support ISO-9001 compliance efforts.
- Prepare and maintain Technical Data Sheets (TDS) and produce quality reports for customers as required.
- Assist in failure mode analysis and process mapping to improve quality and reduce defects.
- Collaborate with the engineering team on compound trials and participate in specialized quality programs.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of all quality control activities, testing results, and compliance certifications.
- Participate in management review meetings and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Associates degree in a technical field or equivalent work experience.
- Experience with quality testing methods and use of measurement equipment.
- Familiarity with ISO-9001 standards and quality management principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and experience with ERP/MRP systems is a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and specifications.
- Strong mathematical skills, including understanding of fractions, percentages, ratios, and basic geometry.
- Experience with converting between Metric and English units of measure.
