GENERAL SUMMARY:Partners with leaders and staff to create and maintain a safe, efficient, effective, equitable, and patient-centered environment to work and provide care. Serves as a resource for evidence-based research, quality measurement and improvement, and education programs. Responsible for designing, developing, teaching, evaluating and documenting outcomes of clinical and non-clinical training programs. Works as a liaison with the Continuous Improvement division to develop quality improvement goals, plans, projects, and progress monitoring. Acts as a subject matter expert for applying systematic, scientific improvement methodologies, aligned with the Bryan Health Improvement System. Models the ideal behaviors necessary for an effective culture of safety, high reliability and continuous improvement.PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:1. *Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.2. *Facilitates collaborative and meaningful discussions with multiple providers and disciplines to improve care for patients by ensuring that protocols, processes, and care plans are implemented effectively.3. *Leads quality improvement projects, maintaining documentation of charters, plans, progress reports, meeting minutes, data files, analyses, and improvement cycles.4. *Facilitates the divisional quality committees in partnership with physician and administrative leaders.5. *Participates in meetings, committees, case reviews and projects as assigned; actively engages by sharing observations/recommendations and supporting open, inclusive and respectful dialogue.6. *Collaborates with nursing and cross-functional leaders to evaluate patient care processes.7. *Analyzes measures of care quality to identify problems, trends, and results of improvement activities.8. *Collaborates with analysts to create informative and engaging reports for stakeholders.9. *Develops reports for nursing and other stakeholders with recommendations to address quality issues; utilizing evidence-based practices, systems thinking, data, collaborative relationships, and iterative cycles of improvement.10. *Serves as a liaison between the Continuous Improvement and Patient Care Services divisions concerning all aspects of quality planning, quality analysis, quality improvement, and a culture of high reliability.11. *Partners with education as subject matter experts in the development of curricula to address the educational needs of nursing, reflecting current trends in nursing practice and lessons learned from quality metrics, case reviews, and improvement projects.12. *Collaborates with the clinical educators/leadership in providing ongoing access to coordinated high-quality educational offerings to all team members of the division.13. *Assists in the development and revisions of order sets and documentation tools to strengthen use of evidence-based protocols and improve clinical documentation and coding.14. Collaborates with the quality department to validate the accuracy of data for regulatory submission.15. Maintains professional growth, development and understanding of trends in clinical care, education and healthcare quality through courses, webinars, publications, coaching/mentoring, or professional affiliations.16. Participates in meetings, committees and department projects as assigned.17. Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.(Essential Job functions are marked with an asterisk * . Maintains clinical competency as required for the unit including but not limited to age-specific competencies relative to patient's growth and developmental needs, annual skill competency verification and mandatory education and competencies.2. Knowledge of current theory and clinical practices related to patient care.3. Knowledge of current literature, issues, trends, treatment and prevention of patient quality events.4. Knowledge of computer hardware equipment and software applications relevant to work functions.5. Knowledge of regulations and procedures appropriate in the administration of patient care.6. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions necessary to establish a safe work environment.7. Knowledge of local, state and federal regulations related to nursing.8. Knowledge of data abstraction, data management and statistical analysis.9. Knowledge of system and change management principles and the application within the healthcare environment.10. Ability to prepare and maintain records, written reports and respond to correspondence using a computer.11. Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.12. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.13. Ability to perform crucial conversations with desired outcomes.14. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of personnel and medical staff.15. Ability to problem solve and engage independent critical thinking skills.16. Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Current Registered Nurse licensure from the State of Nebraska or approved compact state of residence as defined by the Nebraska Nurse Practice Act required. Advanced nursing degree with a masters or doctorate in nursing required. Minimum of three (3) years clinical nursing experience required. Specialty certification preferred.OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS:Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required. Bryan Health recognizes American Heart Association (for healthcare professionals), American Red Cross (for healthcare professionals) and the Military Training Network.Completion of the Bryan Health Improvement System training program within 1 year of hire required.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:(Physical Requirements are based on federal criteria and assigned by Human Resources upon review of the Principal Job Functions.)(DOT)-Characterized as sedentary work requiring exertion up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
