The Quality Inspector will setup, operate and control a variety of auxiliary equipment related to the manufacture of ceramic fiber, as well as equipment and apparatus used directly in the manufacture of ceramic fiber products; to insure desired product quality; to maintain productivity standards and to ensure safe operation. This position reports directly to the Quality Engineer, but is also directed by the Shift Advisor. Responsibilities:
  • Perform Quality Testing
    • Obtain samples from end of line at a pre-determined frequency
    • Conduct testing in accordance with internal work instructions and procedures
    • Quality testing of all outgoing products including, but not limited to:
      • Thickness and basis weight
      • Fiber diameter
      • Fiber index
      • Friability
      • Crystallinity
      • Tensile
      • Compression testing
    • Perform additional testing as necessary
    • Perform re-testing of material as directed by the Quality Supervisor or Engineers
  • Production Support
    • Provide periodic support for relief of End of Line operators
    • Assist in the rebuilding and refurbishment of needle boards
    • Auditing of production line and product quality
  • Other Duties
    • Maintain clean and safe equipment and an orderly work area
    • Daily shift turnover reporting
    • Regular communication with production regarding test results and sorting needs
    • Ensure proper entry of all test results into electronic systems
    • Perform other related duties as needed
Requirements:
  • High school Diploma required, Associate degree or other post high school training preferred, or industrial experience.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft office, the ability to learn and access information through computer databases, and the ability to read simple gages and follow work instructions.
  • The individual must also be able to work a 12-hour continuous shift schedule (4 days on, 4 days off from 7-7 rotating days/nights).
  • Lifting requirements up to 50 lbs., be able to handle repetitive stair and ladder climbing, and work successfully in team environment.
  • Tools and equipment used: Fork truck, computer, wet scrubber, furnaces, small hand tools, carton sealer, stapler, carton erector, tape gun, stretch wrapper, power washer, etc.
  • Facilities Used: Electricity, water, compressed air, steam, LP gas, etc.
  • Materials Used: Ceramic Fiber mixes, cutters, bags, stretch wrap, hand tools.
Compensation:
  • $22.66/hour
