Summary of Position:We are seeking a Quality Inspector to join our team at our facility in Ontario, CA. In this position, you will be responsible for measuring precision piece parts and sub-assemblies in a repeatable and accurate manner (gage R&R) using various inspection equipment, such as laser micrometers, air gages, VMM, CMM, etc., based on a provided schedule. A level I & II technician will be starting out and learning the process, but a Level III is expected to understand the process, how to apply learned skills and possess the talent to detail/deburr parts that meet or exceed the quality requirements of the drawing. A level-IV detailer/deburr technician will also possess leadership qualities, as well as the skills to train and mentor others. Pay is based on the level the candidate can demonstrate. Essential Functions of the Position:
  • Inspect machined parts, purchased parts, and assemblies for first article (FAI), in-process, and final inspection
  • Supports manufacturing with mechanical and visual inspection of parts per router or work instructions
  • Records and maintains quality records required by the Maury quality procedures, AS9100, ISO 17025
  • Serve as a technical resource on quality control and inspection validations as they arise
  • Must have a solid ability to identify, communicate, and manage operational changes in process, environment, equipment, and resources
  • Ability to interact with fellow employees and managers professionally and cultivate a positive environment in the company
  • Accurately and descriptively communicates helpful information, preventive actions to the manufacturing team
  • Ensure company, customer quality, and processing requirements are satisfied
  • Responsible for identifying non-conforming material (NCR) and isolating them from production as required based on part nonconformance
  • Must read and interpret GD&T-based drawings and set up best practices in measurement methods
  • Prepare accurate, written inspection reports, including AS9102 First Article Inspection forms.
  • Supports the inspection process throughout manufacturing and is the focal point for internal quality issues with manufactured parts
  • Support Engineering and Manufacturing on all quality issues.
  • Applies functional knowledge of statistical process control (SPC)
Required Skills:
  • Basic PC skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, MRP), are crucial for success in this position.
  • English language skills and the ability to read, follow, and interpret planning and work order instructions are highly valued in this role.
  • Other inspection-related duties as requested by management
  • Ability to professionally communicate and work cooperatively with others is key to fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Must be able to pass any customer-required testing/machining specifications about their parts and standards.
  • Skill in following verbal and written directions and transferring instructions into action.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks and a high volume of work on a deadline.
  • Intermediate math skills, including adding, subtracting, multiplication, division, and fractions, for print reading and tolerance determination.
Experience and Education:
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Some college or related trade school education a plus
  • Minimum 5 years of precision mechanical inspection experience required with calipers; micrometers; indicators; and various gauges, e.g., height gauges; height masters; air gauges; CMM; VMM.
  • Experience with measuring tools and capability of measuring with a tolerance of +/- .0002
  • Good written and verbal communication skills. Ability to write comprehensive inspection plans.
  • Minimum five years of experience in a machine shop inspection environment.
  • Minimum eight years of experience in quality inspection.
