Job Summary:We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive individual to join our team as a Quality Inspector. This role is primarily desk-based, working in an office/lab environment, with approximately 20% of time spent on the shop floor inspecting materials. The ideal candidate will take ownership of assigned tasks, prioritize independently, and demonstrate confidence in making decisions. Strong communication skills and proficiency in MS Word and Excel are essential.Essential Functions:
- Read and understand requirements and instructions to determine quality expectations for products and supplies.
- Inspect materials by confirming specifications and conducting visual and measurement tests in both office/lab and shop floor settings.
- Document and report inspection results, summarize re-work and waste, and input data into the quality database.
- Maintain non-conforming material programs, including root cause analysis and issuing corrective actions for returned materials.
- Communicate necessary adjustments and quality issues to the Quality Manager and collaborate effectively with other departments.
- Ensure measurement equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and operational, requesting repairs when needed.
- Support the team with various tasks and projects as assigned to meet quality and organizational goals.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Perform other duties as directed by the supervisor to assist with day-to-day operations.
Qualifications:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation. - Experience using measuring devices such as meters, gauges, calipers, and other instruments.
- Knowledge of quality control standards and testing methodologies (ISO, LEAN preferred).
- Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently.
- Confident in decision-making and able to communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
- Basic math and technical skills.
- Ability to perform visual inspections of small components with or without magnification.
Physical Requirements:
- Primarily working at a desk in an office/lab setup.
- Occasional time spent on the shop floor for product/material inspections.
- Occasionally lifting and/or moving materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
Work Environment:
- Primarily an office/lab environment with occasional shop floor exposure.
- Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts when on the shop floor.
- Noise levels vary from low (office) to moderate/high (shop floor).
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
- At least 1 year of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
