Position Overview:The Quality Assurance Inspector examines materials, components, and finished products to ensure they meet required specifications. This includes inspecting fabricated components, castings, electrical and hydraulic parts, and raw materials. Depending on level (I, II, III, Senior), responsibilities can range from basic dimensional checks to advanced nondestructive testing (NDT) and documentation management.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Inspect and test parts, components, materials, and finished products to confirm adherence to specifications.
- Generate and manage inspection and testing records; review related documents.
- Identify and process nonconforming products, coordinating with appropriate departments for resolution.
- Perform inventory transfers, containment inspections, and rework inspections.
- Maintain accurate documentation in quality assurance databases and systems.
- Depending on level:
- Level I: Perform basic inspections using standard measuring devices and follow simple instructions.
- Level II: Conduct first article inspections, utilize a wider range of tools, read and interpret documents, and operate basic equipment.
- Level III: Adapt to changing inspection requirements, perform receiving and return inspections, and conduct Ultrasonic Testing (UT) at Level I or II.
- Senior: Issue engineering change requests, monitor nonconformance reports, perform first article inspections, and conduct UT inspections at Level III.
Job Requirements:
- Level I: High School Diploma or equivalent with general manufacturing knowledge. Basic measuring tool proficiency required.
- Level II: High School Diploma or equivalent with at least 2 years of manufacturing inspection experience or equivalent combination. Experience with heavy fabricated materials preferred; CWI (Certified Welding Inspector) a plus.
- Level III: High School Diploma or equivalent with at least 4 years of manufacturing inspection experience or equivalent combination. Experience with heavy fabricated materials; UT Level I or II and CWI preferred.
- Senior: High School Diploma or equivalent with at least 8 years of quality inspection experience. UT Level III certification preferred; CWI certification a plus.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong attention to detail and adherence to quality standards.
- Proficiency with standard measuring instruments; more advanced levels require knowledge of geometric tolerances and nondestructive testing.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, work instructions, and specifications.
- Basic computer skills for documentation and record-keeping.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work both independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
- Good vision for reading measurements and inspecting products.
- Work performed in a production/warehouse environment with varying noise levels and temperatures.
