Position Title: Machine Shop Quality Inspector
Department: Quality

Reports To: Quality Supervisor
Classification: Hourly - Non-Exempt
Position Summary:
This position is responsible to inspect and test various parts made in the Machine Shop or Assembly areas using various inspection/testing tools such as calipers, micrometers, ring/plug gauges, etc.
Essential Job Duties:
* Perform first article and in-process inspections per control plans/inspection plans, document results, and make start-up decisions.
* Identify, contain, and document all defective/suspect product.
* Operate precision measuring instruments in accordance with approved procedures.
* Interpret visual and dimensional quality criteria to operators.
* Verify, index, file, and retrieve quality records.
* Participate in problem solving activities.
* Keep work area clean.
* Report incidents and injuries to Supervisor/Manager immediately.
* Recognize close-call incidents and safety hazards and take action to eliminate them.
* Use equipment properly and follow the safety features/operating procedures.
* Wear applicable personal protective equipment.
* Follow applicable safety, quality, and environmental programs, policies, and procedures.
* Actively participate in continual improvement, corrective action, and customer satisfaction.
* Keeps tools clean and operational by following manufacturer's instructions; report any need of repairs.
* Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
* Documents actions by completing production and quality forms.
* Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Required Education:
* High School Diploma/GED Equivalent
Required Experience/Skills:
* At least 2 years' experience in operations and/or inspection experience in a manufacturing environment.
* Must be able to read and understand blueprints.
* Must be able to use and read various inspection/testing tools such as calipers, micrometers, ring/plug gauges, etc.
* Proficient use of basic inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, indicators, etc.
* Basic computer knowledge - ability to access/compose email and use engineering computer programs to access information.
* Attention to detail.
* Excellent vision.

* Ability to use testing equipment.
* Ability to lift up to 35lbs.
