Job Summary The Quality Manager will lead the Quality, Food Safety and Verification of conformance to Regulatory requirements in support of plant operations. This position will offer direction to production in making quality decisions, investigating non-conforming product and providing leadership during process upsets. This position reports to the Plant Manager. Job Description Lead a team of Quality Technicians and Quality Leads that are responsible for the quality and product safety programs to ensure compliance with ADM, regulatory and customer requirements. Main point of contact for customers directly overseeing product management Connect with customers under a quality agreement any deviations as defined in the agreement Write validation procedures, route for approval to meet customer expectations Lead all aspects of management of change approval with customers on equipment changes that directly impact their products Provide quality trainings to new hires, contractors and refresher training as needed and maintain training records Lead monthly GMP plant inspections per divisional requirements Prepare the facility for compliance during customer audits and third party certifications (HACCP, SQF, SFSF, FAMI-QS, Organic) Lead the facility during audits and certifications Lead the facility through FDA and scored internal audits Investigate manufacturing errors and complete proper reports including, yield instigations, CAPA reports. Use deviation reports to support the disposition of the product and approve the release or disposal of the product Conduct complaint investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective actions Develop a plan to eliminate the root cause and follow through with implementation Verify quality and product safety checks are properly completed to meet procedural requirements such as; sequencing, bin checks, magnet checks, etc., Schedule monitoring activities such as; carryover studies, uniformity studies, scale checks, and traceability as necessary Ensure equipment validation procedures for high risk products are completed Conduct internal housekeeping inspections on a monthly basis to ensure that quality and product safety are maintained, develop corrective actions for inspection findings. Oversee Pest Control Program Follow up on recommendations and Corrective Actions PCQI Coordinator Maintain the food safety plan, ensure control points are being handled per program requirements, risk assessments are accurate and up to date Coordinate routine food safety meetings FSMA/PCQI Coordinator Program is maintained current and control points being run Conduct routine FSMA meetings and provide routine performance reports Assign and verify Monthly Food Safety Audit Deficiencies Assist operations with rework disposition. Maintain product assay data in a shareable format/summary, compare analytical results to specifications, create COAs as necessary, and identify trends and improvement opportunities Maintain the Formal Release program Establish and maintain product sampling matrices, product specifications and sight samples, communicate revisions to necessary personnel as needed. Lead product recalls from the plant level with guidance from divisional resources when necessary Develop and maintain site specific work instructions Ensure product assays are completed and failing assays results are followed up on Solid understanding of NIR technology as it applies to the pet food industry Give direction for sample retains, product testing, required for divisional programs Various tasks as assigned Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities Minimum Requirements BS degree in Feed Science or related experience AND/OR 5+ years in quality experience in feed/food Knowledge of FDA and State Regulatory Requirements Trained in Preventive Controls for Animal Food (PCQI) Team Player Decisive and results oriented Strong communication and interpersonal skills to lead, coach, build consensus and lead change among a team of production/sales/quality colleagues. Strong analytical problem solving/root cause analysis skills Highly organized Effective use of Microsoft office applications Relocation Assistance is available with this position.
