JOB DESCRIPTIONREPORTS TO: Corporate Quality ManagerDIRECT REPORTS: Quality Technician, Quality InspectorFLSA STATUS: ExemptROLE:The Quality Manager is responsible for the implementation, and management of Genpak's Quality Assurance initiatives for their assigned plant. Responsibilities are to be completed with consideration of safety, cost, efficiency, timeliness, and production of a quality product within specifications. This is a highly collaborative position requiring strong organizational, follow up, and communication skills. The ability to cultivate relationships with corporate, the plant manufacturing team, plant vendors and customers is essential in the achievement of objectives.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Monitor the Quality Management System inclusive of all processes and procedures to maintain alignment with food safety, regulatory, customer, and corporate quality standards.o Assess performance of quality systems to ensure effectiveness and efficiency.o Lead food safety audit team (pest control, glass & brittle plastics, GMP spot audits) Oversee the facility's inspection and testing of materials and product to ensure adherence to quality standards.o Manage facility testing equipment including calibration.o Managing the QA Technicians daily activitieso Drive continual improvement with testing methods, procedures, frequence and equipment based on continual analysis.o Understanding the difference between Critical to Quality, Voice of the customer and Critical to Process. Lead a team and spearhead continual improvement, including quality issues to minimize waste and downtime.o Use Lean 6 Sigma tools, such as FMEA, 8D, 5 Why, control charts and SPC to identify areas that require improvement.o Manage the facility CAPA process for quality improvement.o Investigate customer complaints per the complaint process. Oversee QA information systems to support accurate recording and tracking of quality issues.o Review and analyze data to support process improvement.o Working with Process Team department to create process limits.o Review Infinity QS database for adherence to specification. Facilitate compliance with all food safety programs to include HACCP, GMP, allergen control, lot traceability, internal auditing, sanitation, and others.o Lead the manufacturing group during regulatory audits, SQF audits, and customer audits/visits.o Be HACCP certified and trained as an SQF Practitioner.o Oversee the development, implementation, review, and maintenance of the SQF system.o Take appropriate action to ensure the integrity of the SQF system.o Communicate to relevant personnel all information essential to ensure the effective implementation of the SQF system. Lead quality and food safety related training including new hire orientation and annual refresher training.TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:Interpersonal/Communication: Ability to participate and/or foster communication and teamwork within the facility and the Genpak network. Ability to prioritize multi-task duties without loss of efficiency or composure. Effective written and verbal communication and the ability to disseminate information in a timely and diplomatic manner. Ability to work under pressure, meet scheduled deadlines, respond to emergency situations without loss of efficiency or composure. Communicate regularly and pro-actively with all levels of employee regarding problems or issues impacting production. Ability to establish and build relationships with internal/external customers. Strong record keeping, management of change, and training skills will be key in successfully implementing a consistent program across all facilities. Ability to receive instruction and execute self-direction. Ability to motivate, train, and delegate responsibility.Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of Quality monitoring systems (Infinity QS preferred). Strong understanding of statistical analysis to include hypothesis testing, process capability (Cpk& Ppk) and SPC. Ability to read, understand and analyze statistical data and characteristics. Ability to correctly utilize gauging equipment. 6 Sigma Green Belt certification (or higher) preferred. Knowledge of safety and quality methodologies to propose solutions to compliance issues.Efficiency: Demonstrate ability to initiate and perform root cause analysis and implement corrective action to drive improvement. Ability to meet or exceed performance standards and continuously improve upon them.Compliance & Regulatory: Thorough knowledge of food safety requirements including compliance and certification requirements for SQF and GMP (preferred). Ability to understand, interpret and ensure compliance with customer specific audits. Maintain required records and documentation, as related to materials and supplies, for internal/external audit requirements including SPC, GMP, SQF and customer specific documents. Create processes, ensure compliance, and train employees on standard operational procedures in relation to policies, procedures and third party GMP audits.Safety: Demonstrated ability to comply with all Company policies and procedures and to uphold, support and exemplify the safety programs and standards.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: BS in Science, Engineering, Mathematics or Business Management (or equivalent experience). Minimum 10 Years Quality leadership experience. Minimum 5 years of Management experience. Demonstrated experience in analyzing data and solving problems. Computer skills in QA software and other company systems. Strong interpersonal skills to be able to train, communicate, and lead effectively. Knowledge of MS Office and familiarity with database applications. Experience with plastics processing machinery and/or physical properties and behaviors preferredADA - ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Must be able to: Work an 8-hour shift with overtime as required.
