This team supports the Sedalia production team in ensuring that in-process material and finished product leaving the WireCo plant meets or exceeds internal and external quality standards.The Quality Manager must exhibit and proactively motivate others in the behaviors of the WireCo Business System (WBS):

  • Curious - seeks knowledge and outside input to test our way of thinking, challenging the status quoThe ideal Candidate has mastered the skills necessary for managing the Quality Systems in an ISO 9001 and/or API Q1-qualified facility. The Candidate will be an integral senior member of the Sedalia Operations Team, and will utilize their experience, structure, and personal character to embody the key behaviors of the WireCo Business System; Teamwork, Accountable, Self Aware, Noble Intent, Determined, Transparent, and Curious. The Candidate will also be responsible for managing talented individuals, and a key focus will be to Unleash their Talent through targeted development opportunities, 1 on 1 coaching, and continued training.The Candidate will ensure that key direction and decisions are rooted in our most basic operational demand, that Data is the Source of Truth. The Candidate will promote the WireCo Business System throughout the Sedalia manufacturing facility, and support Engineering, Quality, and Compliance tasks associated with reaching our 5-Year Strategic Growth Plan.Essential Functions
    • Operate as the key Stakeholder of the Quality Management System which operates under ISO 9001 and API Q1
    • Run the Business by tracking annual budgets and monthly KPIs, investigating customer complaints and ensuring root cause corrective measures adequately address deficiencies within the production and quality systems
    • Improve the Business by ensuring new products and processes are deployed successfully, identify key technological improvements to improve first-pass yield while reducing downtime, and accelerate process refinements that result in improved product performance in the field
    • Regularly work with Plant Engineering, Maintenance, Corporate Engineering, Procurement, and other functional groups to address risks and opportunities for the WireCo Business
    • Act as the liaison to internal and external suppliers to identify non-conformities and solutions in upstream processes
    • Represent WireCo in the presence of Customers and End Users, acting with professionalism and proper etiquette, while utilizing business acumen to solve problems and offer solutions
    • Drive the use of WireCo's OpEx Pillars to document Problem Solving and measure the effectiveness of solutions
    • Facilitate and coach the continued deployment of the PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) process across the Sedalia Manufacturing Plant and Distribution Center
    • Active participant in the implementation of the Sedalia Value Stream modelSupervises Responsibility
      • This position has supervisory responsibilities for the Quality Team, Tooling Department, Occasional Sedalia Projects and US Steel projectsQualificationsRequired Qualifications:
        • B.S. Engineering or equivalent work experience
        • Project Management skills or PMP certification
        • Six Sigma Background Preferred
        • Budgeting and financial experienceExperience and Skill Requirements:
          • Safety Focused Actions at all times in the workplace
          • 5-10 years of manufacturing experience, some management experience preferred
          • QMS Management Experience - ISO 9001 and/or API Q1 preferred
          • Superior computer skills, with abilities to easily navigate MS Office Suite, with particular focuses on PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
          • Familiarity with ERP Systems, data extraction, and data analysis
          • Exposure to Lean Manufacturing tools and concepts around VSM, 5S, 5Why, 8D, and Rapid Problem-Solving
          • Strong verbal and written communication skills for interaction with employees ranging from the production floor to executive management
          • Leadership skills to develop a workforce through reward and recognition, coaching, and corrective action
          • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and react to changing and heightened prioritiesPreferred Qualifications:
            • Quality System Internal Auditor experience
            • 3-5 years Quality Engineering
            • 3-5 years of Management/Supervisory experienceAdditional InformationPhysical Requirements & Working Conditions
              • Combination office/production floor environment. Standing/walking on concrete floors for up to 8 hours. Pushing/pulling, lifting up to 50 lbs.Equipment and/or Materials Used
                • Computer, cell phone, CAD, MS Office, ERP System. Other equipment includes micrometer, calipers, scales and other measuring devices.
                • Required to properly use safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and steel-toed safety shoes when on the production floorAdditional Information
                  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
