The Quality Manager is responsible for managing site wide consumer safety, quality program implementation and to utilize continuous improvement strategies to maximize operational control and minimize product variability. Quality Manager ensures that HACCP/FSMA and other regulatory guidelines are followed per standards. Overall, the Quality Manager oversees the site quality agenda, (WCM) quality pillar programs, and participates as a part of the site leadership team and integrates a Quality mindset throughout the site. The Quality Manager will establish and maintain a production lab testing for all composition and microbial testing of all raw ingredients and finished products. Operational Responsibilities:
- Establish, lead, and deliver Quality systems for the site
- Responsible for overall Consumer Safety at the site and to ensure Food safety team is fully functional.
- Act as the subject matter expert on decisions related to quality programs and processes
- Provide technical information/feedback related to product inquires or complaints
- Manage microbiological concerns
- Ensure all products meet or surpass defined quality standards
- Drive continuous improvement through WCM programming (including RCA and Corrective actions)
- Utilize continuous improvement strategies to minimize complaints and product non-conformances
- Maximize product consistency through process control and specification compliance
- Minimize line overfill and recipe dosing to maintain low RM variances and losses
- Collaborate with production departments on awareness and training
- Ensure good manufacturing practices (GMP) are in place at all times; set example and champion SHE initiatives
- Participate as part of site leadership team; integrate Quality throughout site
- Coordinate activities/projects with all warehouses, procurement, supply planning, contractors and R&D as needed
- Hire, develop, and manage quality team
- Support regional and export markets to ensure quality standards and regulatory requirements are met
- Other projects and duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or other applicable field required
- Minimum of 8 years supervisory/lead experience with Grade A Dairy products, milk antibiotic testing, microbiological plating, FT-120, CEM
- Minimum of 8 years of quality assurance experience
- Experience with manufacturing equipment, concepts and regulations preferred
Experience Required: ESSENTIAL:
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Fully understand and enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's).
- PCQI, HACCP Trained, and SQF Practioner required.
- Working knowledge of Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and ability to drive improvements using the Loss Tree is required.
- Demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities through experience in production, quality, or materials management is required.
- Must have experience in WCM, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or other continuous improvement program.
- Must have the ability to manage project and project teams from inception to completion including hitting deadlines and documenting progress.
- Requires the ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to influence others.
- Strong interpersonal skills; the ability to build collaborative relationships and networks with multiple and diverse stakeholders, internal and external partners.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Ability to drive change and innovation by gathering knowledge and resources to ensure tasks are completed within timelines to a high degree of accuracy and professionalism.
