Quality Review Nurse Singing River Health System Hospital - Gulfport | Full-Time | Days | 15200 Community Road Gulfport, Mississippi, 39503 United StatesPosition Overview The Quality Review Nurse performs data collection and validation necessary for the performance improvement and operations of the Emergency Department with the responsibility of reviewing records; utilizing screening criteria; and collecting and evaluating data for routine and special studies as required. He/she assists the Emergency Department medical and nursing staff by collecting and analyzing pertinent data in order to determine risk factors. He/She uses data to evaluate and assure quality and appropriateness of care. As a resource within the hospital, the Quality Review / Performance Improvement Nurse educates other professionals and non-professionals about measures to reduce or minimize risks; and participates in Emergency Department medical and nursing staff Performance Improvement activities. He/She performs quality review for Emergency Department cases which may warrant further treatment and contacts patients to ensure follow up procedures is communicated. The Quality Review / Performance Improvement Nurse assists the unit educators in the development and presentation of learning materials and in-services to ensure appropriate knowledge levels of the medical and nursing staff regarding current quality initiatives, goals and outcomes, as well as performance improvement activities. Education Graduate from NLN School of Nursing. Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred. License Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Mississippi. Certification Must complete and BCLS certification upon hire and/or transfer. Must have de-escalation training completed by the end of position orientation (90 days); must have appropriate level of de-escalation training. Experience Minimum of three (3) years of clinical nursing experience is required. Physical Demands Stands, turns, bends, stoops, lifts, climbs, and uses many physical motions in performing day-to-day activities. Must be able to stand for extended periods of time and do a great deal of walking without experiencing undue fatigue. May be exposed to communicable disease or radiation. Work involves being able to perceive the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels, with or without correction. Work requires a minimum standard of visual acuity, with or without correction, with the ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus, i.e. shift gaze from viewing a computer monitor to forms that are closer to compare data at close vision. Mental Demands Keen mental faculties/assessment and decision making skills in the management of acute and chronically ill patients. Communication/speaking/enunciation skills to receive and give information in person and by telephone. Emotional stability conducive to dealing with high stress level associated with care of acute patient/family, rapidly changing patient conditions, emotional demands of patients and families, and demands of maintaining effective working relationships with peers, managers, physicians, and other health care workers. Special Demands Work requires the ability to function independently, adapt to workload demands, set priorities, understand and set goals. Must possess proficient knowledge and ability to use a computer (must be keyboard proficient) and other office technology (i.e., telephone, fax, etc.). Proficient knowledge and skill in using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.
