The Quality Coordinator ensuresthe integrity of the site's Food Safety, Quality, and Regulatory systems, supporting compliance and operational excellence. This role strengthens the department's capacity to meet SQF, regulatory, and customer requirements while enhancing audit readiness and service levels.Position Details
- Performs as backup SQF Practitioner (SQFP) and ensures the integrity of the SQF System.
- Maintains and ensures compliance of a qualified HACCP / Preventive Controls program for site.
- Performs verification of all records that require verification by a Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI).
- Executes Hold on products as needed based on record verification activities.
- Routinely reconciles Hold inventory to verify the Hold program is successful.
- Performs COA review for CBI ingredient transfers to ensure materials are fit for use .
- Generates, updates, and maintains documents for Custom Blended Ingredients (CBI) products, including specifications, claims, and program statements for customers. This includes managing usability status of Products and BOMs in Sage as needed.
- Fulfills document requests for internal customers
- Assists product and process investigations by conducting trace, collating records, and assembling data and trends for review by SQF Team members.
- Tracks and manages findings and CAPA related to GMP Walkthroughs to ensure adequate completion
- Participates in site inspections (GMP walkthroughs), customer audits, 3rd party audits, and regulatory inspections.
- Tracks and manages training status and records for site personnel to meet SQF, regulatory, and customer requirements.
- Tracks and manages FSQR document and record lifecycle to ensure review, update, organization, storage, and retention are performed according to site's established policies and schedules.
- Participate as a crisis management team member during crisis situations to ensure that appropriate procedures are implemented in order to maintain compliance with HACCP and food safety requirements (i.e., power outage, weather events, etc.).
- Periodically performs audits of contract warehouses and suppliers as dictated by department needs.
- Communicates compliance results to operating groups, ensures timely feedback, and provides routine reporting on FSQR metrics to stakeholders.
- Ensures the integrity, continued operation, and continuous improvement of the SQF system by:
- Acting as backup for monthly SQF Management meeting
- Performing all duties necessary to ensure SQF and/or Government requirements and standards are met as prioritized by the Company.
- Identifies and initiates action to prevent the occurrence of nonconformities relating to Food Safety and Quality of the product, processes, quality system, or safety system.
- Identifies and reports any problems relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the ingredients, processes, quality system, or safety system.
- Informs Management of any Food Safety or Quality issues, or of any processes which become noncompliant with specified requirements.
QualificationsRequirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- Bachelor's degree in Biology or related field OR 2 to 5 years of experience in SQF-certified manufacturing facilities
- Understanding of the principles of food safety as applied to warehouse operations and ingredient blending
Licenses/Credentials/Certifications
- SQF Practitioner preferred
- HACCP Certificate preferred
- PCQI Certificate preferred
- Internal audit training suggested
- Food Fraud training suggested
- Root Cause Analysis training suggested
