Position Summary
The Quality Supervisor is ultimately responsible for customer satisfaction from product performance for Marble Falls plant. The Quality Supervisor owns the product quality and drives the initiatives that improve product performance, repeatability, and consistency. Verifies products meets or exceeds standards and customer requirements.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
* Supervises and leads 1 - 4 non exempt and/or salaried non exempt direct reports.
* Purchases consumable lab supplies.
* Assists in resolving specific customer complaints.
* Acts as key liaison between Plant and Customers during quality issues.
* Owns, monitors, and updates all Plant Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's). Review and update Plant SOP's as needed. Delegate this responsibility to those who have process or production ownership.
* Develops and applies knowledge to implement and/or improve tools, techniques, and processes for our products and customers.
* Communicates Plant quality objectives and status to plant personnel.
* Ensures that the Marble Falls facility maintains full ISO compliance with mandatory regulatory requirements (NSF), Quality policy, and Huber EHS&S policies and procedures (HSMS).
* Leads the effort to communicate and meet Plant quality goals.
* Schedules and leads lab team meetings.
* Communicates to Plant Management the latest trends including, but not limited to, process capability, raw material changes, customer feedback, etc.
* Directs all product and raw material sampling and testing.
* Meets customer needs by working with other HEM departments (Research & Technology, Marketing, Technical Service Group, Purchasing and Operations) to solve customer problems, analyze competitors' and vendors' products and capabilities and run laboratory and production trails to improve HEM's products.
* Resolves problems, minimizes loss, downtime, and inconsistency of products by monitoring lab quality assurance, feedback from production and quality control tests performed on samples.
* Increases learning and improve motivation through participative management with training and cross-training employees, development opportunities and coaching.
* Maintains master copy of product specifications and customer information in central database.
* Provides training to all lab employees, including supervisory and technical personnel on ISO standards.
* Maintains ISO procedures master log and assist all departments with new procedures. Review procedures as needed, and report on ISO activities.
* Tracks and minimizes waste by monitoring quality deviations and trends.
* Promotes basic housekeeping principles in the QA Lab.
* ISO 9001 internal auditor.
* Coordinates and/or participate in quality initiatives with other Huber facilities.
* May have other duties.
Specialized/Technical Knowledge or Required Skills
* Associates or Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
* 3 - 5 years light manufacturing, quality, and/or supervisory experience preferred.
* Training in a technical field, such as chemistry, engineering, or mathematics.
* Basic understanding of operations from the delivered feedstock through the plant process, packaging, shipping, and customer service.
* Knowledge of plant operations and mineral processing.
* Broad experience with typical laboratory testing equipment.
* Demonstrates a level of listening skill such that customer and/or employee needs, issues, problems, etc. are heard, addressed, and resolved.
* General knowledge of federal and state regulations regarding safety, environmental, DOT, and hazardous materials.
* Proficient in word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
* Ability to clearly communicate and influence verbally and in writing with customers, contractors, and other company personnel at all levels of the organization. The individual must possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to offer effective constructive advice.
