The Quality Supervisor leads a team of professionals and works jointly with other management peers to support the manufacturing process at the manufacturing location. Develop and foster strong inter-organizational relationships to create a work environment that promotes teamwork and goal attainment. Drive the quality management function, including establishment, maintenance, and continual improvement of assurance and control methodologies to effectively influence product quality and reliability.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Be a visible leader and collaborate with functional peers to create a culture of professionalism, growth, and mutual respect.
* Use interpersonal, team-building, and negotiation skills to continue to grow an environment where quality resources are respected and engaged for their perspective and analytical and pragmatic problem-solving skills.
* Develop and sustain strong working relationships with respective business partners to ensure alignment and attainment of plant-level goals and objectives.
* Work within and cross-functionally to prevent and correct process and product issues affecting quality and reliability.
* Develop and administer the quality assurance program to ensure testing accuracy and consistency.
* Ensure standard operating procedures are created, updated, followed and employees have been adequately trained in all aspects of their jobs.
* Drive and maintain training programs for technicians.
* Drive operational improvements in conjunction with Aspen's production framework and with the support of the Operational Excellence group.
* Ensure tasks are completed in a timely manner to meet business needs.
* Ensure current calibration procedures and schedule for inspection equipment are accurate and executed in a timely and proper fashion.
* Ensure all testing related tasks in the Control Plan are completed on time.
* Maintains laboratory staff results by counseling and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results, in conjunction with the Quality Manager.
* Ensure proper staffing levels are maintained to support production schedule.
* Ensure individual and company goals and expectations are delivered to all employees.
* Troubleshoot equipment issues to identify maintenance and/or engineering improvements as needed.
* Actively participate in root cause investigations (RCI's) related to Quality incidents/Customer complaints as needed.
* Implements new programs, tests, methods, instrumentation, and procedures by investigating alternatives; preparing proposals; developing and performing parallel testing; monitoring progress.
* Maintains laboratory productivity by monitoring workload of functional areas; identifying peak and slack periods; making operational or staffing adjustment and driving elimination of process bottlenecks and driving all employees towards the optimal time to complete each task and track the results
* Actively participate in the Root Cause Investigations (RCIs) and Supplier Corrective Action Reports (SCARs) with the Quality group and other functions.
* Evaluate and review quality control data for issues and creating and executing corrective action plans.
* Maintains inspection equipment/instruments performance by establishing quality standards; developing operations, quality, and troubleshooting procedures; ensuring staff compliance; certifying instrument performance; arranging equipment replacement, service, and repair.
* Maintains inspection and calibration supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; checking orders for supplies driven by the Technician Leads; verifying receipt of supplies.
* Work to avert and resolve personnel conflicts involving quality as well as improving relationships with and perception of quality
* Ensures complete implementation and adherence of quality principles, processes, and management strategies
* Ensure compliance to all relevant standards and certifications, including ISO 9001:2008 and IATF16949.
* Run daily KPI meetings with QC Staff to tackle immediate constraints and drive performance, both on operational metrics and product quality metrics.
* Drive incoming inspection improvement to support product quality.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
* Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, and developing employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Strong analytical abilities - comfortable with control charts, doing technical analyses
* The ability to build and sustain positive relationships
* The ability to communicate effectively and work cross-functionally to achieve goals
* Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage projects simultaneously.
* A team player and problem solver
* An analytical thinker with strong numerical and skills
* Solid understanding of statistical methods and use of six sigma concepts
* Working knowledge of and experience with statistical sampling
* 3 + years combined experience working in a quality and reliability role
* Track record of success leading a team of professionals
* Proficiency with MS Office suite of applications
* Proficiency with statistical tools such as Minitab, SQC Pack, and JMP
* Practitioner of statistical methods as a part of daily cadence
* Six Sigma training and certification highly desirable
* Working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015; Working knowledge of IATF16949 a plus
